I just bet a Habanna Cohiba that GT scores in the first 5 plays of our possession. Well actually, if I win then I get the Cohiba... if I lose then I get him a Diamond Crown Maximus. I'm pretty sure it's a good bet based on the cigars, but what do you think about the first 5 plays thing?

thanks, now we wont score on the first five possessions at all... but yeah, I say it was a good bet. I would say we'll score on the first three plays, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Honestly? I would just look at all of our games and see how frequently we have done that. If we have done it in each game, it's a good bet. You can really never tell with our offense how quickly or slowly we will score. But what you can usually count on is that we WILL score.

I know we didn't against Miami.

JSU yes, first run.
Clemson...technically no since we threw an int on first posession, but second possession yes.
Miami - Pretty sure no. I remember we had a good healthy drive 8 or 9 plays IIRC.
UNC - Pretty sure yes, within the first 3~4 plays.
MSU - I honestly can't remember.
FSU - Yes? I think? There was so much scoring it's hard to remember which is which.

Y'all forgot that Kam Chancellor has the 3O figured out. He knows which play is coming every time. He knew it back during the summer, so he could have only gotten better. Look at how he shut down Alabama. Those wideouts had no chance against him. We better just hope he gets tired from making every tackle and has to sit out a few plays so we can get a first down.

Jax State- 1st Play, 1st drive
Clemson- 1st Play, 2nd drive (1st drive was an INT)
Miami- 13th play, 1st drive
UNC- 9th play, 1st drive
MSU- 8th play, 1st drive
FSU- 9th play, 1st drive

I think that it would have been safer to say that we'd score on the first possession, but I'm thinking now you may have just lost a cigar! I think VT's defense will be more along the lines of MSU's... nothing special, but enough to get the job done. I know they've got Bud Foster, but if CBF's defense couldn't stop Duke from raking up the numbers on VT, then they've got a weakness. That's not to say they won't have fixed it by this weekend, but at least we know that their defense can be vulnerable at times.

I might be the only one, but I would rather see us score on the 15th play of every drive. If I can see us come out and move it against them while wearing their defense out...then I will be pumped. I think this is the key to our defense.

Not being snide, but I think our best chance is by keeping our defense off the field as long as possible. They seem to be night and day better when they have a chance to catch their breath in between drives.

Not sure about your bet though. Best of luck ;)

As far as cigars are concerned, you have already won. If they don't score, I would still find a way to get that Cohiba.:D

Pass to Hill for 72 yards on second play first possession (Jones pitch for 8 yards on the first play). Write it down.

No way it's 72 yards on second play. Orwin's going to get it out to at least the 40 if it's a kick return, and Tarrant will have it around the 35~40 if it's a punt return.

I think I've read in practice reports that we've been working on the quadruple option a little more, which involves the option of Nesbitt intentionally fumbling the pitch, only to recover it himself for a first down. So we may not have to wait until he gets tired.

I made a bet for the Mississippi State game that Hill would score on a reverse at some point in the game. This game I'm predicting a long gain on a shuffle pass/touchdown.

I hope we bring back that little draw/shovel pass we ran with good success against UNC... now that teams are gonna have to respect Nesbitts arm more, that play could gash.

is that Roadblock in your avatar?

Put a 2-3 yard run by Dwyer on the dive in front and we got ourselves a deal.
