#11 in AP Poll

**** the polls. I had hoped they would redeem themselves by giving us some respect down the stretch, but clearly they can't handle that. ****ing OREGON? Are you fist-****ing me?

Biggest crashes and burns from the preseason polls
# 13 UGAg - 4-3 - should be worse
# 18 FSU - 3-4
# 21 UNC - 4-3 (wins over Citadel, Uconn, ECU and Ga Southern - yeech)
# 24 Nebraska - 4-3

Oklahoma is still in the top 25. Why? If you lose you lose. You shouldn't be ranked for close losses or your teams potential.

Biggest winners:
Cincinnati - unranked, now #5
Houston - unranked, now #15
South Carolina - unranked, now #21

that is ridiculous!!!!!:wow:

How does a 6-1 USC team that lost to WASHINGTON stay in the top 5?? Really?? It seems like they're playing favorites there!!

Uh hello, that's what folks call "the human element". Apparently USC and Oklahoma score extremely well on "the eyeball test"

Oregon jumps us for beating the mighty 3-4 (0-12 last year) Washington. I don't care if one of their 3 wins out of 19 games was USC, that's some mighty stinking bull**** there.

Like 1990, we're simply not going to get respect easily. We're just not a "name" team, at least not yet. Ohio State and Oklahoma can lose big game after big game, or small game after small game (Purdue), and still be ranked. We lose to a Miami team that everybody hails as the second coming and drop 10 spots out of the polls. Apparently losing to the second coming automatically disqualifies you from being in the top 25.

Whatever, just keep winning. But I know I'll be mighty pissed if we keep winning and another team jumps us again.

Have you not been paying attention to the polls at all these past years? Teams that have earned respect over the years get it. But we have just as many NT's as many of the other "historic" teams though so i still dont understand why we dont get the same press that teams like ohio state get. maybe its cause we are a smaller school. I have just accepted the fact that the polls suck and that no matter what GT does we will end up in the orange bowl. No.5 undefeated boise state who the best they played was utah state will go to the NT game instead.

Polls are based in large part on perceptions, teams like USC have a lot of cachet and recently strong results, we don't have that yet. It will come if we can keep winning.

If we are good enough and lucky enough to make it to the OB, which would be great, I would not mind playing Penn State or Boise State.

our national reputation right now is still based on the gailey years.

eventually the perception of the GT football program will change...especially if we finish out the year strong.

I don't mind playing Penn State, but I don't see anything good coming out of playing Boise.

well if we beat WF and duke and win the ACCCG there is almost no way we wont go to at least the orange bowl

The only thing good is they are overrated and we should win. But I agree, when playing the non-BCS teams, it is generally a lose-lose sitch. I would not want to play TCU or Utah of last year.

Sorry to dog on your first post, but Boise State beat Oregon. There's no way that isn't a substantial win. According to the current rankings, that's bigger than us beating VT.
