I know most of you want to focus on uniforms, whiskey preference, and whether a certain UGA player is gay like most Techsters, but I thought a thread devoted to actual x's and o's would be a refreshing change....

Duke is 11 in the country in passing offense.....

Tech is 117 in passing defense.....117..!!...

What else doesn't match up..??..

Are we gonna win 59 -53..??...

Sure hope not...

Tech is #1 in rushing offense....

Duke has five wins.....

How big is the front..??....

Are they going to present a 3,4, or 5 man front..??...

Anybody see any film from their game against Army..??..
 
I am nervous about this game (like all of them), but realistically I think it's going to look a lot like the Virginia game by the end of it. Duke CANNOT run the football and if we can start dedicating an LB to blitzing instead of covering the run then we should be able to get pressure on Thad Lewis and disrupt the passing game.

Fun side fact: Dwyer rushed for more yards in the Wake Forest game than Duke's leading rusher has on the season, 189 to 174.

I hope Wommack's gameplan involves a ton of blitzing. I say we send at least 5 (4 DL + 1 LB, safety, or cb) each down. I know that when I played defense and the coach called a ton of blitzes, we would play with more energy because we knew our number would be called to blitz every few plays.

We won't have a chance in hell on defense if we give Thad Lewis time. He is an accurate passer. We need to rush his progression. Seeing that their running game is practically non-existant makes a blitz heavy gameplan even more attractive. It's a no-brainer.
 
I suspect Duke is going to march up and down the field like we were Maryland or Wake Forest or somebody.

However, I think they will have trouble getting the ball into the end zone.

I'm not concerned about Duke's rushing defense.

If we can knock off the dumb penalties, we should be fine.

I also think we'll pick off at least one or two passes. Just a hunch.
 
I feel like Duke could be a trap game. We have won a ton of games since the Miami loss (7 in a row) and it could be hard for the players to stay on top of things. I hope that the close Wake Forest game keeps our players alert.

You serious? This is the last ACC game of the season. There is no way that it's a trap game. The only way we lose is if we are outplayed. It won't be because it's a trap game. Our guys realize that our whole season rests on this one game.

If we win, we are Division Champs and going to the ACC-CG.

If we lose, our season is all for naught and we slide back into mediocrity.
 
We're playing a game that will determine whether we win our division. The following weekend is a bye week. What about this says "trap game" to so many folks?
 
If Wommack comes out with what amounts to a cover 4 like he did last week, and we have LBs in coverage downfield, I will fight BOR for the privilege of cutting out Wommack's gonads.

UNC played press coverage with essentially 10 in the box and was able to keep Duke in check. Not sure our DB's can be trusted with little/ no deep help, but we may have to try. We did play more of a cover 1 or 2 in the second half against WF (hard to see the DBs on TV), but I suspect PJ made that change.

LOL. Keep in mind, I only think we should blitz like mad because they lack a running game. This would be retarded to do against Clemson, VT, Miami, or anyone with a half decent running back.
 
I saw us lining up closer to the LOS with the DB's in the second half as well. I really think we need to get in there and punch Duke right in the mouth 11 on 11 as early as we can. I want to see a dogfight for the WR's to get off of the LOS and I want to see Morgan having a huge sack lunch.

You gotta push a team like Duke around and they should fold up like a cheap suit.
