Student Attendance

I interviewed a bunch of fine young engineers down at the Success Center today, and they all said that they attend every home game, and show up on time.

So, where's everyone else hiding?

Being a student, I realized there seems to be some misconception that these games cost money. Some people think that because they didn't get a block seat, they have to pay. I quickly showed them how easy it is (and free) to get a single game ticket. Not sure what else I can do...

Do student tickets "sell out"? I mean, is the problem that no one gets the tickets or that people get the tickets and don't go to the game?

I remember seeing on here that they have sold out for at least two games, though I can't remember which ones. I don't think it's an issue to 'sell' all the seats as much as get everyone to show up. If you gave away unused tickets starting at kickoff you might improve things, assuming there are students who aren't getting tickets now who would come.

Andrew, nice questions to CPJ last night.

Yeah, my understanding (not a student) is that they have to be reserved before the game and when students with tickets don't show up, there are empty seats. May be incorrect though.

There some X allotment of student tickets in the stadium.

At the beginning of the year you can reserve a seat in a block by paying ~$70 and you get a wristband for each game that lets you in the south endzone along with your buzzcard. There are some other random rules about the blocks and their sizes and crap. It doesn't matter cause no one polices non-seatback seating.

Of the allotment, those not reserved for block seating are available online (for free) to any student roughly the Monday before each game (X - block tickets reserved). This puts a "ticket" on your buzzcard which you can use to enter the North Endzone. Once enough students reserve tickets online to fill the X allotment, no more are available.

About the Wed before a game if there are tickets left, you can reserve a "guest pass" as another swipe on your buzzcard (for ~$15-$45).

As far as I know you can't just walk up to the stadium and get in with your buzzcard unless you've reserved a ticket. This is no matter how many tickets have been reserved. I think they should change that. Even though it literally takes 1 minute to get a student ticket online.

No one would every lie to an interviewer...

I understand. My question is whether all of the tickets are reserved or not.

Yes and no. For $49 you get a reserved seat in your block. Any group of students, 5 people or more, can create a block. I would pay $49 alone just to go to the Georgia game so it's a great deal.

Then 1500 single-game student tickets go "on sale", and you can claim them for free. Once those are gone, you're out of luck.

Blocks are in North endzone, above and on both sides of Swarm. Blocks were also $49 a person.

Maybe?

Either way, I'm pretty sure (at least 2 home games ago) the student tickets didn't sell out. I showed a guy how to get a student ticket the DAY of the game.
It sold out West Carolina and UNC, we kept winning and students stopped coming...

Doesn't matter now, Clemson, VT and uga student crowds should be very good.

I expect students to show up a lot more the rest of the season. The tickets everybody wanted are these upcoming games.

The first few games, I was able to sneak friends along with me from their upperdeck seats into the student section no problem, but I expect that to be much more difficult to do the rest of the way.

Let me emphasize my original response for you.
