well mostly

Georgia Tech sent the ACC championship game trophy back to the ACC office, but the conference opted to leave the title officially "vacant."

"They beat us," Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said Tuesday.

Swinney's veteran players agreed.

"As far as football goes, Georgia Tech earned it," junior center Dalton Freeman said.

Walker: "I still think they deserve it. They were the best team in the ACC that year."

C.J. Spiller saw it differently. The former Clemson running back, now with the NFL's Buffalo Bills, rushed for 233 yards in the 2009 ACC title game.

"So does this mean we get acc championship rings?" Spiller tweeted immediately after the NCAA ruling.

No. But the Thriller in Tampa rings through this week.

...

Asked about Thomas in a question unrelated to the NCAA flap, Swinney on Tuesday agreed the Yellow Jackets were "probably more explosive that year (2009), which is a big reason why they won the conference."

Swinney didn't completely dodge the NCAA matter.

"I'll tell you one thing I don't get," he said. "If they're not going to count the (ACC championship game) win for them, why do they count the loss for Clemson? That makes no sense. I'm no math major, but it ought to add up."

I'm hoping that the (Still) 2009 ACC Champs sign makes an appearance on Saturday.

Even if you ignore that game, we were still clearly the best team in the conference.

GT 7-1
VT 6-2
Clemson 6-2
FSU 6-2

What else do you notice there besides the fact that GT was one game up on the next 3 best records? We also beat all three of those teams well before Thomas's actions came into question.

Take away the ACCCG of you want. But give us an ACC Regular Season Champs Trophy instead.

There is ZERO doubt that we were the best team in the conference in '09.

It would've been nice if the ACC had recognized that and let us keep the trophy.

well they certainly don't go to class...so I guess this is a good first step for them.

I wish i could get you on Last Comic Standing--you'd have a real shot.

CJ Spiller needs to worry less about twitter and more about being a gigantic NFL bust!

I dont mind plotting this in the library and bringing it to the game. What are the rules with signs? I can make a giant banner and hang it over the railing as my block is first row of the student section.

i dont think it can cover any advertisements or hang in anyones view.

Go for it.

The large banner for the WCU game hung from the Upper North.

Had a large GT helmet logo up top
and said "(STILL) 2009 ACC Champions" below.

Love for this to get onto the ABC broadcast somehow, someway.

Ill plot a 10 or8x3 poster if I can get help from some people. Shouldn't be tough. Its in a good spot. Right above where the players come off the field at half time.
