... is probably going to be a ööööstorm on here. My prediction: we get everyone who wants to be here and no one who doesn't.

Have fun flipping your ---- over things completely out of your control and involving the decisions of adolescents.

I'm with you.

I use this as more an indication of what the coaching staff is or isn't doing than focusing on any one recruit. Which is a more direction of the program than anything

I'm not going to pretend to be above the recruiting circus. Whether we keep our existing commitments, whether we get Tomlinson, who we pick up at the last minute--it all matters for our football team. Recruiting is important. College football is a young man's sport, and if we're not obsessing over the actions of 17 year olds, we're obsessing over the actions of 18-22 year olds--not a big diference.

I think the important thing is to not celebrate the kids who make a spectacle out of their last minute decisions, and to applaud the kids who stick to their commitments and are above doing that.

I think our coaches are doing what they can. GT is recruiting in a highly-competitive football market against the BEST football schools in the nation. I'm amazed they do as well as they do.

Batten down the hatches -- incoming!

What's with all the "panties in a wad" complaints about who comes to play football for Georgia Tech. Like, uh, dude....isn't that what this entire message board is centered around? PLAYING FOOTBALL AT GEORGIA TECH.

You act like it's not a big effin' deal who comes to play here. Well, it is. If Dalvin doesn't come here. That's gonna handicap Georgia Tech's prospects significantly, imo.

Well we're either big boys or we aren't. And in the recruiting world, we haven't acted like big boys in a while.

Our coaches clearly adhere to the collective idiocy of The Hive when it comes to over-offering. We never have a full recruiting class. We are perpetually on self-imposed probation. Every year, we have higher attrition than "we" expect, and we call it anomaly instead of calling it "Tech".

I stopped following recruiting a couple of years ago because I had less time to be online, and because Tech sucks at it. Not because I don't care about the decisions of 17 and 18 year olds. These "petty decisions by adolescents" determine the future of the program, like it or not. I love CPJ's X's and O's, but our 2007 recruiting class showed that even with his offensive genious, we won't get any championships without some Jimmies and Joes.

:soapbox:

A pre meltdown thread. The stingtalk collective psyche is predicting fail.

I blame it on the significant lack of bourbon the last few weeks. ---- the offseason.

Agreed.

I can't wait for Spring Game tailgate. We made some pretty good drunken plans at the basketball game last Tuesday. Bourbon Fairy in?

I promise you one thing. A lot of good will come out of this week. You will never see any poster in the entire country post as hard as I will post the rest of the offseason. You will never see someone troll the rest of the board as hard as I will troll everybody the rest of the offseason. You will never see a message board meltdown harder than we will the rest of the offseason season.

God bless.

Diseqc 2012, initiative for a successful offseason.

Since 2008, according to Rivals, 3 4 teams have finished in the top 3 in recruiting in the ACC: Miami, FSU, UNC and Clemson. Only Clemson has anything to show for it.
