Big rumor out of UNC

This is one of my favorite threads ever. "Bulletin board" material is probably one of the most overblown concepts in sports.

Apparently teams are supposed to say that they think they're going to lose or else they're being arrogant pricks, and if they don't then the other team is going to try really hard to win (those arrogant pricks!)

Not true, it's just too often that people try to fabricate or misinterpret "bulletin board material" because the drama makes it more fun.

If you have a guy mouthing off like Chancellor was before the '09 GT/VT game, that's what we call bulletin board material and it's only natural that it illicit's a competitive response in the other guy.

Is there something wrong w/ Stingtalk?

It says the OP posted this at 4:51 pm. This is clearly a 4:51 am post.

Unless we play our best game of the season in all three facets I could see a repeat of the 2008 game result and margin though I doubt they will only score 28 points. Really hope that is not the case, maybe our dual QB option helps on O but this could get ugly for us. At this point I fear that our 2nd losing season out of the last three seems pretty likely

I don't know why people think that the 2008 UNC game was so bad. It was bad on the scoreboard, but the score didn't reflect the flow of the game at all. We had over 420 yards of offense, they barely had over 300 yards, total.

The difference was the 3 turnover differential, a failed 4th and 3 in the first quarter on the UNC 46, a failed 4th and 1 in the second on the UNC 38, a missed field goal from the UNC 23, a delay of game from the 30 and a missed 52 yarder because of that penalty.

That was all in the first half.

Second half, 2 penalties for 25 yards from the UNC 29 to take us to the UNC 50, 1st and 31 (plus a sack the next play), a punt from the UNC 30 because our kicker stinks (Actually that part sounds familiar), fumble.

We moved the ball, just shot ourselves in the foot. We have done a good bit of that this year, but I've got pretty good faith in our offense to score more than 7 points. It's not like we are playing BYU.

The big difference between this game and 2008, imo, will be on the defense. We aren't going to hold them to 300 yards again, though they did rush pretty well that game.

I was really referencing the score, stats do not mean much if you are losing

It's stupid to think all loses are the same. There's getting thumped like we did vs BYU where we never had a chance and there's what Legal Jacket described. It's not the same.

You might have missed some sarcasm. I thought it was obvious; the powder blue comment desperately needed attention and derision regardless of outcome.

You might have mistakenly interpreted my post as being sarcastic.

If our guys needed Kam Chanellor to "illicit's" a competitive response in order to get up for a night game against the #4 team in the nation on homecoming, then they should quit playing football.
