Question for the 'fridgemover about recent meeting

Re: Question for the \'fridgemover about recent meeting

Very interesting! You're right, from here it's all speculation and timing, but the raw data is interesting nonetheless.

Now we can defer to those on the board that are still in school and they can use this as a project for deeper analysis! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugher.gif

Re: Question for the \'fridgemover about recent meeting

here are the number I got
Old :
182/380 2165 yards 47.9%, 5.7 yards per attempt, 11 TDs 12 Ints
New :
209/380 2479 yards 55%, 6.52 yars per attempt 13 TDs 10 Ints

Old QB rating : 98.99
New QB rating : 115.83

It put him at 4th most passing yards this year, but still only 10th in QB rating because most of the other QBs had completion percentages in the 60's

I think 2 more TDs and 2 less ints would have possibly gotten us 1 or 2 more wins.

Re: Question for the \'fridgemover about recent meeting

I really would have liked a completion at the end of the NC State game (why did we call a timeout?) and UGAg game (no fade to Calvin?).

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dead_horse.gif

Those would have been two very important completions.

Re: Question for the \'fridgemover about recent meeting

Speculation, pure speculation! Had those extra completions happened against say VT we would have lost maybe by 41-21 and not the 51-7 we had pasted on us. Against Mia we might have won by 21. So a person can speculate all they want but there is no way we can put the statistics to show what would have happened. Our QB is what he is, an under achiever and our coach will go with him so as not to appear to have egg on his face due to his choice at QB.

Re: Question for the \'fridgemover about recent meeting

Gee, olf foggy, ya think? Of course it's speculation. Have you not read the thread? My point is Reggie doesn't have to compete for the Heisman to have a significant impact next year. Moderate improvment can have make a big difference because even with his low completion %, etc, we've still won 7 games the last 3 years. If he has a decent year, maybe somewhere in the 50-60s of QB rating in the NCAA it would have a huge difference.

Our coach will go with Reggie until/unless he has someone who can do better. Blame him for QB performance if you want, but to suggest any coach would rather lose than somehow look bad is dumb. Coaches want to win more than fans do...it's what they are.

Re: Question for the \'fridgemover about recent meeting

NCJ, what I was really saying is you can't speculate! But then again if frogs had wings. Oh yes I did read the entire thread!

With CCG I think rather than have the fans feel he was wrong about our QB he would rather have our QB for the last three years play this year than to admit he was wrong! As for his desire to win, with CCG I think from watching the last 4 years to him it's just a job, big bucks maybe but still a job.

oldfoggy, its good to see you remain relatively ..

Civil in your discussion because an opposing view leads to
welcome debate. For the record I wish we had anybody but
RB for our QB but I think we are stuck for one more year.
After that I have high hopes for JG.

All we can do is hope RB has some sort of break out year
or it will be a long, frustrating season.

Re: Question for the \'fridgemover about recent meeting

But oldfoggy, we wanted to speculate, that was the point. We know it doesn't mean anything but it is interesting sometimes to play the "what if" game just to kill time and for fun. Reggie doesn't have to be great...a few more plays per game would make all the difference in the world.

I don't get your crack at Gailey though. Of course it's a job, that what every coach in America is doing, a job. And every one of them wants to win, badly. It's what they spend all their time working on. It kills them when they lose, every one of them. They may not show it, but it's true. BTW, if they don't win they also get fired. Say what you will about Braine, but I don't think the new AD will let Gailey stay around because he's a good guy...he can't afford to. I think Chan knows that too.

Re: oldfoggy, its good to see you remain relatively ..

Unfortunately I think we've seen the best that our QB has to offer and I expect nothing but the same from him in 06. I Think it's best to sit him on the pines let another guy take over, take our lumps, then we may have 3 years of good QB play. RB could come in for spot duty or to give the new guy a break here and there like many other teams do. Again I think we've seen the best RB has to offer and we will see the same again and again.

Re: oldfoggy, its good to see you remain relatively ..

I'm don't actually care who the QB is oldfoggy, but expect the coaching staff to use whoever they think will give us the best chance to win. I'm not for sacrificing a game or season for the future. Each team has one shot at winning. Next year is next year, but this team has to maximize what they can do. If Reggie plays 100% of the time or if he's a spot duty player doesn't matter to me. Just win baby.

Re: NCJ

I never said LOSE! What I was referring to was if RB starts out the same, let the new guy come in. If RB has a year like the last 3 then we have 4 years of sub par play. So instead of 1 year with problems we will have 2 years of problems as a new guy comes in 07 untested under fire. RB I feel has shown his best with only 12 ints down from 18 the year before. I still think CCG will run and start RB rather than let the faithful think he was wrong all along.

Re: oldfoggy, its good to see you remain relatively ..

OK, lets have one more year of miserable QB play, Then in 07 we start again!

Re: oldfoggy, its good to see you remain relatively ..

you should know that common sense is strictly prohibited.

Re: oldfoggy, its good to see you remain relatively ..

Do you honestly think that one more year of bad QB play is going to get Chan fired? No it's not. Chan is going to put the best 22 on the field and that's it. After the season good or bad i'm sure that Chan and the new AD will sit down and discuss the future and make the appropriate decisions then.

I for one am not willing to throw a season away, some on here are and that's fine but I'm not.

Re: oldfoggy, its good to see you remain relatively ..

Let me try this again. I said, WTTE, play who gives us our best chance to win. If that's Garner, or whoever, I don't care. But if those guys aren't better than Reggie we have to play Reggie. What you seem to be saying is that we should play someone who isn't better in the hopes that they will get better. That their upside is greater. My point is we owe it to the team to play who gives them the chance now. If we can play both and still win that's cool with me.

Re: oldfoggy, its good to see you remain relatively ..

RF why are you talking about CCG getting fired? We have not even mention that. You have, not I, not NCJ, not GEETEE, no one, so why are you trying to stir the pot? We are speaking of QB play nothing else. Why are you?

Re: oldfoggy, its good to see you remain relatively ..

NCJ, who ever said we should not play the best? My point is if our present QB can not, nor will not cut the mustard, then why throw away 2 seasons? We've seen our QB for 3 years now and he's nothing to write home to mom about. You know as well as I and many here he could not play for a d2 team much less a hi profile d1 team like Tech.

Re: oldfoggy, its good to see you remain relatively ..

Well I was going to say what you in reality are but changed my mind. Have at it RF, maybe one day you will see what you really write! So tell me RF who mentioned firing CCG? YOU that who!
