The Acceptance of Suck

So when we start getting pounded by UNC and Duke to go along with the usual 4, I can fix that by supporting the team more?
You mentioned BCS bowl :rotfl: Another year or two and you won't have to worry about any bowl. Open your eyes and watch the product being put on the field. Nobody likes watching it let alone play in it. Our most dynamic offensive player is a walk on for Christ sakes. By all means though.....your support will change all that

Dude...you're hilarious. Did you watch the game yesterday? And did you not see any positives? Personally, I think we are worlds better this year than we were last year, and see no reason why that upward trajectory won't continue.

I wouldn't call it the acceptance of suck, more like the acceptance of mediocrity, but that wouldn't be new to most Tech fans. I remember when Tech did suck. Tech just can't win against the real teams that care about college football more than most anything. It is kind of hard with all the handcuffs... But I'm tired of excuses. It is what it is. Live with it or die bitching every Sunday.

GT is the new old Vandy version.

I totally disagree.

Tech is in a league of its own. I cannot think of another team that has been as mediocre as Tech over the past 16 years. The closest I can come up with is UGA, but they have had a few more 9+ win seasons than Tech.

Most teams have ups and downs. Tech has been evenly keeled mediocre.

umm... I would look at who graduates before I calculate that trajectory there... looks downhill to me...

Exactly.

The positives I saw were named Godhigh, Attouchu, Thomas. Those cats are gone next year. Who is going to run the ball next year? Who is going to step up on D. I think next year is going to be worse than this year unless someone I haven't thought of or seen steps up.

5-3 in conference hoping that we catch some break to make the acccg.
Losing to uga in an absolutely painful way due to lack of depth.

That is where CPJ has gotten us. It is absolutely better than Gailey. It is worse than O'Leary. It is what it is. If Vad developes like Tevin, we will get leaps and bounds better on O. Our OL couldn't play worse if they were all true freshmen.

Roof his improved the D in his first year.

Only a retard AD would cut CPJ without a slam dunk better coach AND a promise from the hill of> 10% of the recruiting class being exceptions every year.

The turnout (or lack of turnout) by GT fans is ridiculous. You want a better football team? Support the football team you have. Spend a day at any USCe/Clemson/UGA/UF/FSU/Alabama/Auburn home game--any home game--and compare the atmosphere and support to what GT fans can muster at our biggest game that comes only every other year. We don't stand a chance at getting any serious football recruits unless and until we show up to support the program.

I took a couple pics of the southwest end zone and behind where the students sit at kickoff and it was pathetic!

This is the biggest game of the year and we have gaping holes. Not even to mention upper north...

"Club O'Leary" (the upper north) is what it is --an eyesore of a structure that probably shouldn't have been added if seeing red/black; orange; green/orange is an issue (although those colors do bring in revenue).

What disturbed me was the red/black in my section --I have aisle seats, third row in 222. Granted, this is a non-TECH fund contribution area, but I know that the seats in front of me --1-4 in row #2; and 1-2 in row #1, are Tech season ticket holders. Well guess what? Yep --these seats had Dwag fans sitting in them. To me, this is BS and simply unacceptable. If you aren't inclined to show up for the UGA game then AT LEAST give/sell your tickets to TECH fans.

All of this.

I do think CPJ is a good coach. Problem is, until he changes his way of offensive thinking, we're not gonna get the great players. Especially OL. I believe Vad would be great in the type of offense that Auburn runs. He does throw the ball well and is elusive enough to break some long gains. As long as we continue to run the TO, we're looking at 7-6 records. Our defense kept us in the Va Tech game, but their defense knows how to stop us. Same with Miami, Clemson, BYU. This was the year we had a chance against UGA. But the opposing offenses saw our weakness (#8 Louis Young) and continually hammered him. I was NOT surprised they won. I just wondered what took them so long to take control. Give the ball to Gurley on the ground or air. He's a beast.
I'm wondering if CPJ will change up the offense for the bowl game? I believe he's too prideful though.

20% international and 30% out of state students. 50% Georgiia GT students. You would think GT is not a public funded school. I know most of GT money comes from grants but we are a State School. If Georgia Taxpayers support Tech why so few Georgia students? That is why many students do not care about instate rivals. Except it is not a rival unless there is real competition, and UGA has ruled. Also, Some of the foreign students do not care about American football. By the way UGA has 90% Georgia students.

Domestic students want to party and earn easy degrees in poetry. International students understand the value of a degree in engineering/sciences. Its a cultural problem with lazy ass Americans today.

Losing the in-state rivalry only compounds this problem, due to the party aspect of my comments above. Students want a winning football team, because it makes college more fun.

This is the honest truth.

Some of you have it right. Poor attendance. We have a poor attending fan base. Some of us old schoolers don't miss opportunity to go. You students don't show the needed interest to make a change. Why spend millions on a coach to entertain us old guys. I'll accept this mediocrity

Education is so pathetic that in-state students have a hard time being accepted.

This absolutely factors into how USCe got to where they are. It also factors into how Tenn will get back to national prominence. When they went through years and years of awful, their fans supported them. Spurrier went to USCe b/c he thought he could win with support like that. Teams that pack their stadiums semi-regularly beat their rivals from time to time. You gain revenue and the interest of prospective recruits. At some point, something good happens.

You're either a Tech fan or you're not. Voice your concerns while still attending games and paying into the "coffers".

this guy has the answer! Build a bigger stadium and they will come!

Idiot.

I'm just happy my alma mater (Georgia Southern) is making the jump to D1. I'll definitely follow them a lot more than I have. At least they can beat an SEC school.

You know we're 7-1 against non-UGA SEC teams since 2000, right?

OK?

Less of GT's income comes from the state than most people think. They've cut the budget dramatically over the past 5 years, and Clough and Peterson have done a hell of a job to not let that stop GT's growth as an international brand.
