East Carolina

UNC is a good school, and almost impossible to get into if you live out of state. The last time I heard - which, admittedly, was a decade ago - 95%+ of the school's students came from North Carolina.

It's an "inbred" thing. We wouldn't understand.

Probably the first and last time anyone has bragged about East Carolina.

ECU is academically Western Carolina bad, but with a less attractive campus. It's the school people attend if they can't get into one of UNC's 17 campuses (222k students), NC State, and do not have the money to go out of state or to a private school.

So its still better than Louisville or Georgie?

They have the best fake classes ever.

Yes, I know they are a good school, so long as you aren't a men's football, basketball, or baseball player.

Fedora won't last the year.

He's on year three of a seven year contract. They just finished a really large and expensive stadium expansion too. And because they extended him one year after he tied for the ACC coastal in 2012, they'd have to buy out five years.

If he goes 6-6 he'll be safe, but I still think that they are the worst team in the Coastal (like I said at the beginning of the year). That said, I thought VT was the best team in the coastal, and we're obviously better than they are, and I thought we'd finish 2nd or at worst 3rd. But I'm still pretty sure that everyone is better than UNC(heats).

Why are they constantly ranked in the best school lists? In this one, they're even higher than TECH.

And again?

Just curious because I keep hearing different stories.

They're probably paying the ranking systems even more than they're paying their athletes.

yeah, they are totally talking about academics.

Fedora is an offensive mind and their offense has generally been decent - but that was with Renner. Under Williams they haven't been that great. The still have put up points, but their QB play isn't good. I think their offensive ranks will keep Fedora his job and allow him to fire the scapegoat DC. But i believe they are still under scholarship sanctions (?) and their recruiting is not going great, so I doubt they get much better.

With the decline of VT, struggles at UNC, and unrest at Miami (calling for Golden's head) this is really the time to take over for CPJ. He's finally got his QB. Fortify the DL and we could be the next dominant Coastal team. We can't afford to waste these 3 years worth of JT5.

Much of UNC's offensive success under Fedora comes from having successive years of ready-to-go first round talent on the roster in Giovanni Bernard and Eric Ebron. This year, they do not have that kind of star, even though they do have quite a bit of talent on offense. I feel like their tempo is hurting them more than it is hurting anybody else.

EC is doing it with fairly low rated recruits also.Generally their guys are in the 200 best range at a position, while unc would be in 80-90 range on avg

Last I checked, the dumb players seem to generally be better athletes than the smart ones.

So there's that.

Quick, we should hire an up and coming coach from East Carolina.

That never goes wrong.

85% by state law.

There are those in Greenville that now believe not only that they run the state, but they own the Coastal because they beat two teams from it. I respect their OOC scheduling, but that's a little much. Two wins over two overrated teams is not a reason to get a big head all of the sudden.

Have to defend ECU a little since both kids and their spouses are grads. It is a fine school with a good Med School. My son and daughter were both Chancellor's Scholars - a great merit scholarship given to four a year that covers tuition, fees, room, board, books and a stipend for a semester of travel abroad. They were both accepted at Wake, Tech and UNC and my son at Georgetown but they did not want to pass up the opportunity their offer from ECU provided. It is not Georgia Tech or UNC, but it is a good place for undergraduate education in many fields.

It really is a special place - truly a regional university serving Eastern NC. It is a fun place for football - they averaged about 47,000 per home game last year, most coming from the coastal and coastal plains towns of NC plus from the Triangle. They have a real chip on their shoulder and don't mind playing anybody anywhere anytime. Seeing them whip the Tarheels was a thing of beauty, both last year at Chapel Hill and on Saturday in Greenville.
