Hotels in Charlotte

I would suggest looking in Rock Hill near Galleria Mall on Dave Lyle Blvd or as some suggested already in Pineville near Carolina Place

I hear the Epicenter for Friday nights events, but if it's drizzling on Saturday we need to find a sports bar downtown to watch the other games. Any suggestions close enough to walk
to the stadium?

There are plenty of options within walking distance.

Carolina Ale House on College St.
Blackfinn at the Epicenter has lots of TV's
There is a Hooters on Trade St. if you like bad food while watching football.
Draught is closest to the stadium on Cedar St. (so probably most packed)

Which would you suggest? I'm looking to have a backup rally point for the tailgate should things get really nasty out.

I would say Carolina Ale House would probably be best. Since it is not at the Epicenter you will probably have a better chance of getting a table than at Blackfinn.

It is unfortunate that the Stool Pigeon's & Dixie's both closed, they were good spots for watching games, and less crowded than many other bars in Charlotte.

"GT Alumni owned Unknown Brewing Company will be hosting a HUGE tailgate just three blocks from the stadium. If you're interested in a fun way to tailgate without the hassle please come from beer, food trucks and a live band!"

Epicenter also has a Wild Wing Cafe & a Strike City (Sports Bar & Bowling Alley). Uptown also has a Buffalo Wild Wing.

Do you get a kickback?

Nope. But I do run that conference and we were there last year (and will be there next year). So I know the facilities and staff VERY well. If anything I might get a slightly better deal if the event comes back to that hotel in a future year ... but that is merely a reduction in expenses, not a kickback.
