No real progress on D

Gashed by freshman QB and 200+ yards on the ground. Roof has some 'splaining to do...
 
If the offense and special teams had done anything for most of the game, we would have won with the performance the defense gave. Not saying it was great, but it was enough to win if we came close to our normal offensive performance.
 
Defense played about as well as could be expected with the offense providing no support. Defense was on the field too much and just got tired at the end.
 
I looked at the numbers after the game and was shocked. The D played incredibly well despite what the numbers show. One 80 yard TD run in desperation time skews things a lot.
 
I believe most would feel that if we held Notre Dame to 13 points in the first half we would be ahead, and well on our way to winning big. Defense was good, but you are correct we got torched by a freshman making his first start.
 
I thought the D looked in the game. The O looked overwhelmed most of the day.
 
Dumb thread. If you think Roof is the reason we lost then you weren't watching very closely.

Is this a joke? The defense played very well today. They got us two turnovers and held them to only 19 points until the end of the third despite the offense going three and out a gazillion times and a kicking game that kept giving them the ball at midfield.

Yes, by the end of the game they were getting gashed, but almost any defense would have by that point. No support from the O whatsoever.

The D was literally the only bright spot today.
