OL Jordan Johnson Incident (Eyewitness Account)

So, basically, no one knows outside of Tech and the kid.

KQ had a whole thread on it, plus he wrote an article on it.

In one message, he mentions that he had just finished speaking with the parent of one of the other recruits. That parent said that the kid was mouthing off @ the cops and refused to show ID. Said the kid was lucky not to have been cuffed with the attitude being displayed.

Since GT isn't allowed to comment on it because of NCAA rules (you can't comment on a recruit until he signs his LOI), then the only way you're going to hear an alternative side of the story is when someone does like KQ did and speaks to witnesses.

Can GTPD comment? Not sure how far the NCAA's rules apply, or how independent the GTPD is from GT itself.

There are a few other recruits in attendance tweeting that the cop was a bit over the top. Which is completely in line with what several folks here have experienced over the years.

Wouldn't surprise me. As always, the real story will probably be in between the two extremes.

After the Paris attacks, I expected tighter security and a no nonsense attitude from the cops - as should everyone, including recruits. If they had obeyed a directive from the cop to begin with, one that was totally correct, there would not have been a problem. If I were sitting in a seating section that I was not supposed to sit in, I would have moved if asked. I don't know why it was a problem to just go where he was supposed to be.

Exactly. Most likely he thought he should get a little more special treatment than he did, and the cop was a little more of a dick than he should have been. That makes tempers hot, then the original stories out of both sides were on the extreme.

Probably the first time in years anyone told him "no", especially after pulling the "I'm an ATHLETE" card.

Well, this just points out how little is known.

If Johnson files a complaint I'm sure they'll investigate and produce something.

The media reports alone probably merit an investigation, but we don't know if it will be public.

I don't think a police report on an incident violates NCAA rules. But the NCAA usually doesn't think, so it very well might.

In short, I'd hesitate to assume anything here until we hear more from GTPD or Mr. Johnson.

Finally a post by JJacket that I actually completely agree with

It is just such a non issue why do you care so much? Are you marching with BLM or something about it ?

The jumping to conclusions with no accurate information is why I made the post. It's also the reason why I don't post here normally. I saw what I saw and reported it as accurately as I could. The only bias I have is regarding stupid people and race has nothing to do with that. Two people have made comments in this thread without a shred of evidence implying that I am somehow biased or not being truthful . Your statements say much more about you than me. I made the post because there was a lot of speculation, misinformation, and bias floating around. There was nothing in it for me, but I am concerned about people who make broad statements about groups such as the comments about the GT police department. It is the definition of bias to denigrate an entire group, race, ethnicity, or gender based on your perceived beliefs about one individual. By doing that, you have invalidated yourself as a worthwhile contributor to this discussion. My advice to you is that it is better to be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

Oh, before someone jumps to another conclusion, I have no affiliation with the GTPD. I don't know anyone on the GTPD. In fact, I don't even have an opinion about the GTPD. I also had no previous opinion about the recruit in question. I didn't know he had committed until he said so. I didn't know his name or anything about him.

LG you been around long enough to know everyone is just trolling everyone around here, looking to get a reaction.

"over the top" to millennials = "asking them to do anything they feel they shouldn't have to do"

Sorry if this has already been posted, but here's the sort of coverage of this incident that's showing up on my Facebook feed. Sure do wish GT could get the other side of the story out there...

If he actually accused GT of racial profiling, his offer should be pulled. He should not be offered again. He should be stuck going to a school like South Carolina where he can graduate and earn $35k a year instead of a program like GT that would double his earnings upon graduation. I hope South Carolina has a safe spot for him. Good luck on your future endeavors, cryööööingbaby.
