This weekend is huge for the future of the football program.

We have three commits this weekend. A 3 star who was previously committed, a 4 star, and a 5 star we will not get. Where the OP is getting his info from I want to know. Multiple 4 and 5 stars? Since when does Multiple mean 2 total or 1 each??

Harvard doesnt offer athletic scholarships

Harvard, Yale and Princeton offer full rides for every student below some ridiculous parent's salary. I think below $200k gets a full-ride and then the effective tuition goes up linearly until a parents' salary of $400k. Only above that level is the listed tuition paid.

What's crazy is only something like 40% of Yale's students pay reduced tuition rates. So 60% have parents who make that ridiculous amount of money, despite all their attempts to include (relatively) poor kids.

It does make it tougher for athletes to stay with the team when they can get a full-ride anyway without staying on the team.

The Ivys can only accept athletes from 1 of 4 bands determined from their HS academic performance.

Band one of those athletes that would be accepted based on their academic performance only. A school can accept as many of these athletes as they want (within the annual player limits).

Band two includes those athletes that might likely be accepted based on their academic performance, but would also require some additional criteria such as exceptional community service or a legacy candidate. Only 10 athletes can be accepted per year from this band.

Band three of those athletes would not likely be accepted without some truly exceptional criteria such as community service or pure athleticism. Only 5 of these athletes can be accepted per year.

Band four includes those athletes who would not be accepted under any normal circumstances. Ivy League schools can accept 2 of these athletes yearly. These positions are usually reserved for QBs, other skill players and the occasional stud LB. OL & DL are not accepted (though there is no prohibition) in this band.

The bands are used for all athletes but the numbers refer to FB players only.

One of PJ's previous recruits and a 3 year starter, was accepted to Princeton & Penn under band 2 and was happy to get out.

Only meant to say we had a lot of talent coming in for a visit. I'll let you review all my future thread posts if you want.

Demetris is a longshot but don't count him out. Nobody has a clue what he's going to do. He was committed to Bama for a long time, then broke that off. He really seems to want to go out of state, talking up Stanford for months--though he has never visited--and it's uncertain he has the scores to get in. (Would be the same problem with Tech, possibly). His mom is very education-driven and wants a good degree. He'll make another visit to Athens, this time with mom and his brother (who is heavily involved with the recruiting). But nobody can read him. He's ripe to be sick of being pestered and commit to you guys; stranger things have happened. He's an elite athlete and you could play him on both sides of the ball. He and Mecole Hardman of Elberton are probably the top two "athletes." Mecole looks to be UGA-bound, though he's not locked in either. Best of luck on a big recruiting weekend. Weather is going to cooperate, it looks like.

FIFY

Recruits are like women...they like it when you make them feel special. Hats off to ND for being creative.

Over the top? Maybe.
If it lands this kid for them, then don't be surprised to see a lot more schools pulling something like this in the future.

It's turning into a circus.
