Mr. Swilling speaks of UNIs

One would think when the time comes we would go with the best $ deal, but other factors may weigh in.
It seems strange that before 2008 we did not seem to have a problem with R.
When CPJ came in 2008 is when we started getting these wierd designs. With his seeming disdain for uni talk, I can not imagine he encouraged what we have seen. But I also can not imagine him not saying " we ain't wearing that crap!"
I still have nightmares what Nike, or even UA, might come up with for us.
We had issues under Gailey with those light goldish offshade unis.

Also, wasn't the game of the light gold unis with the white numbers under CCG? I remember nobody could see anyone's number because the numbers weren't outlined.

My initial guess is that it will be Adidas. I saw recently that they are going to be building some new facility up in Cherokee county, so I could see them trying to get on board w/ us due to the proximity of that new facility.

UA is more likely. Tech was one of their first customers and almost signed with them back in the day, but the GT/Russell connection won out.

Awesome. We can have threads discussing the proper way to pronounce Adidas.

I already know Czar will argue for "Ah-dah-dahs" and anyone who says otherwise is dumb.

CPJ. If it's the game I'm thinking about, we had light gold numbers on white jerseys.

When does our contract with Russell expire?

I have seen a lot of UA GT apparel. Wonder if thats any indication?

Best for whom?
Best for the company that designs and makes the stuff, not just the school or its athletes. Why make something that fans don't want to buy? I realize the stuff they put on the shelves is not the same as what the players wear, but when I see crappy outfits on the field it doesn't make me rush to the store to buy their crappy fan iteration.

Not sure. I do remember a few years ago we came out with White shirts and Gold numbers that had to be changed before the next game.

Always wondered why nobody ever thought to check them out from the stands beforehand

In 60 & 70s under Carson we had an Old Gold shirt with White numbers that stood out fine. I always thought the Old Gold shirt with dark numbers looked to "Vandy" and rather drab.

Under O'L we had some White shirts with Gold # that stood out fine to me.

It was the contrast ratio between the gold and white that made the difference. When colors become too similar the human eye can't distinguish details of where one begins and another ends. Same reason why white text on light grey backgrounds and black text on dar grey backgrounds don't work.

Could be, but doubtful that proximity would be the reason. As you well know, it is a business. They will do what is best for them.

Reminds me of the guy on one of the boards who, after visiting the new College HoF in ATL, posted they did not have a lot of GT stuff (or more than other schools). That was a ridiculous assumption to begin with. That is not why they are there.

When UA was just getting started our Material Science School ( old Textile School ) helped them with their testing and evaluation of fabrics and performace evaluations. Hopefully that will help with our UA relationship.

Tennessee numbers are nearly impossible to see at Neyland from the upper deck. White on light orange. Idiots
