New AD has been selected

In the presser his mother in law is from Greenville, SC. Damn I can't even fault Todd's in-laws. This dude is squeaky clean.

I caution fans to be excited but not be overly sold on him being just a GT guy. Unfortunately, we needed a GT guy back in 2011 before DRad made the debt burden insurmountable. Stansberry for all intents and purposes is a "good guy" and a career AD. He knows the landscape and academic challenges of the Institute. What will be telling in his time here is can he drive revenue generating changes in ticket sales, fundraising and other elements of college sports while devising a plan to aggressively reduce the debt burden. He will have one hand tied behind his back given the debt load for facilities expansion. He was on record for taking the Oregon State job because they were willing to devote "hundreds of millions" to athletic facilities. That won't be the case here. I wish him much success but I hope he's up for the challenge and not just taking the job of his alma mater. His skill set to me doesn't seem to be the perfect fit although he checks a few boxes around unifying the fan base and understanding of the GT culture. He will likely come out of the gate smoking and use his GT familiarity to his advantage with donors. However, when we look back in 5 years, will the debt load still be at $230M and will our fundraising still be last in the ACC only ahead of NC State. Time will tell...

Oh hey, didn't know Dave Ramsey posted on ST.

Big boy businesses use debt to get things done. We're not having any issues with our debt servicing and the interest rate is very low. Calm down.

The biggest issue for the GTAA is money. We have debt and we have a lack of donation increases to match the increases in expenditures

It's not yet critical but inflows need to start increasing or we might have problems accessing more debt for improvements spending or having rates escalate

The new AD is particularly a good choice imo because he has a personal relationship wth some of the people we need to bring back into the fold for the sake of the program and because they deserve it...former players

Many have become sucessoff the field and some are a beacon of hope to young players

The Movers of the GT community need to be part of the program, i hope Todd can effect this change and grow a real family feeling at the GTAA for athlete alumni (not just FB)

The way you fix that is by stopping this TECH Fund non-sense and going back to the A-T Fund being emphasized heavily. It should be GT's IPTAY. And access to tickets and other goodies should be based upon sustained annual A-T membership levels. This has the added bonus that you, the consumer, get to effectively earmark WHERE your money goes within the GTAA. So you can indicate to the GTAA by changing your earmark your level of contentment with the program without cutting the GTAA off cold turkey entirely.

I agree and the new ACC increase should help. Mover's time at Tech also intersects both the AD and DC's. Haven't heard from him lately.

Serious question - does anyone know of really big time donors under the age of 60 ready to write big checks? The alums of "the greatest generation" and Dodd era were super benefactors. They supported us in good times and could pay for a coaching change when needed. That generation has done just about all they can do for us financially. Knowing that our fan base is smaller than many of our competitors, we have to have some well-heeled and willing donors.

Or a well run program. We over expanded the stadium and gave Hewitt a stupid contract. The tit has been rebuilt and we can control spending for a while. I just remember as a young alumnus, I was given second level seats to the Carquest Bowl. That's not how you foster long term relationships.

I really hope so. Those baby-boomers' money just doesn't spend as well.

I'll be 100% honest. I didn't even know Bobinski had left. I assumed he was simply hiding again because a loud noise scared him away.

He went to Purdue, which is a perfect fit, really. They hide and are never seen, and will only emerge again into the public when the next reincarnation of Drew Brees appears on campus. I'm not saying Purdue is the Embry Riddle of bumble**** Indiana, but I am saying they would be if Embry Riddle were also sasquatch.

Purdue? More like Purdon't.

If all this AD ever does is pick a damn permanent shade of Gold, I'll almost be happy.
