There are some of us who like to say that the only reason we are ranked so high in the 2020 class is because we have so many early commits vs. other schools and that our ranking will eventually fall. This may be true but consider the following:

* Our “average rating” for 2020 per 247Sports is .8638
* This is the highest it has been since 2007 and it is only .0093 lower than that vaunted class
* We are still pursuing a number of highly rated 4 stars for 2020

So I know ratings are not an exact science but directionally they tell a story. 2020 has a chance to be our best year ever. Good time to be optimistic.

I wonder how much CPJ's policy of "a commitment is a commitment, aka no more visits" hurt us in the modern recruiting landscape? Does the current staff have any similar policies? I assume not, which is how we got all these commits so early.

His policy was blown completely out of proportion. It was not a hard fast policy. Plenty of our commits visited elsewhere and then signed with us. PJ did exactly the same thing that pretty much every coach does... if you are looking, we are looking. Maybe other coaches aren't as honest about it in public.

Recruiting is not a black and white game. The kids can change their minds at any second, including on signing day when you thought you had them in the bag. You have one spot available, 2 players you want equally, you take the committment from the one you think means it most. Then you reevaluate again tomorrow amd you keep recruiting them until NSD.

This is a much more valid method of evaluating this class than comparing current class ranking to other schools.

Another issue I have had with previous classes isn't so much average ranking of the entire class but the average ranking of the bottom 20% of the class. In other words, I think it's more important that the lowest 5 kids are at least serviceable than the top 5 kids being all-stars. It's been the bottom 5 that are killing us not that the top 5 are 3* instead of 3.5*.

Imo, there is a bigger difference between a 5.5 (low 3*) and a 5.7 (high 3*) on Rivals than there is between a 5.7 and a 5.9 (med 4*).

Yes, that is certainly true.

Well use FSU as your barometer bc Taggart now has made that policy public

Yep. Tech will fall out of the top 20 when the 4 and 5 starts get off there fences and finally commit. Still much better class already than any of Johnsons.

Why doesn't your "school" have a real fight song? Your music students suck too bad to come up with something?
