Showboating vs. Just Having Fun

Curious for the board's thoughts. Several times today, GT defensive players were pretty expressive following a play that went our way – nothing big, just strutting a bit, gesturing to the crowd, etc.

On several occasions, this happened after the QB, under no pressure, missed the open WR – not something we really deserve credit for. On one occasion we got a sack after the QB fumbled and recovered a bad snap – again not something we really deserve credit for.

I get that we want the guys to have fun, and to enjoy a good play, but it felt a little hollow to me. UNC marched up and down the field, got 12 first downs out of 19 third downs, and put up almost 600 yds, and made big plays when needed to put us away.

For us to be jumping around after some good things happen, even when they're not really great plays by us, seemed a little crazy to me.

I don't think this is evidence that CGC's regime is built on hype, or is instilling bad character, or any other such thing. But I wonder if CGC notices this and what his reaction to it is. Does he think it's all good, just the guys trying to have a little fun in a bad game?
We look like Miami when they were bad. Except we're worse.

If anyone on defense deserved to celebrate on Saturday, it was Curry (#6) -kid played a good game.

I saw my first game this year Saturday at GF and after watching Curry on TV getting nailed for unsportsmanlike it seemed a bit bizarre but after watching him get up after those tackles Saturday, I think he's just trying to jack his teammates up

Ready to take all the abuse about being an old grump but Here goes , I have tried to enjoy the game as beat possible and embrace all things new in our culture journey but I just don’t like the sideline dance show in middle of giving up 600 yards. The guy beside me after making same observation made a comment immediately after that obnoxious money down - watch UNC score. Well they did. Bad timing to say the least. I realize they are mixing money down with third down but I vote for end to that. Money down. Regardless I will be back and cheering for the SAs.

Finally I know all vibes are bad when losing but there is wierd I cannot put my finger on it bad vibe in the stadium. Just don’t feel right? Have no idea what to point my finger to but it is out of sync for me adjusting.
Yeah, you don't get it. Read what 77 wrote.

This is all about recruiting. Our schtick is going to be "fun". Coach is all about making practice fun. He makes lifting weights and running sprints fun for crying out loud. He wants the games to be fun. It is important right now for even the losses to be fun because there are going to be a lot of them.

Iiuc we had a lot of recruits at the game. If the team had acted nasty and bitter who the öööö wants to be around that? Does your family and friends avoid you after a loss? This game was a glass half empty/ half full. It just comes down to perspective whether you want to be pissy or optimistic.

Maintaining a positive attitude is good for recruiting and maintaining a negative attitude is poison.

Full disclosure: im naturally negative. Try something that works for me. Sarcasm. Its kinda easy to go from a sarcastic "yay we finally scored a touchdown" overcelebration (considering we were still down by 10) to an actual positive attitude.
