I think guys are noticing because there is simply much more of it. I am ok with it to a point. As crappy as this team is you need to celebrate small accomplishments to fight off depression. I remember back in the early 80's celebrating first downs as fans because we got so few of them.

This "might" be an issue if we had more seniors. Two of the seniors still playing chose to transfer into this situation. The three injured seniors will get a chance to play next year.

Hopefully the injured ones will graduate and leave, right??

No. I think Lee and Cooper will be major contributors next year with more time to develop. Our line depth issues are not going to disappear next season. Camp is a good receiver, again with another year to develop.

Every team has this including every team I played on. You get guys who have never done it before in games. I just never understood “celebrating” after the offense gains yards (unless you’re stopping a 3rd or 4th down or something of significance). Low fives from your
bois or head butts is fine.
 
I’m old school, a traditionalist -what have you, so I’m not a big fan of the individuality, look at me actions (especially when your team is losing, bad, etc.) But I’ve come to realize over the years that this is what it is, if you will. Trace it back to the ‘80s era Miami Hurricanes -and it’s just progressed even since that era.

In baseball, I hate the bat flip. I know Acuna does this all the time, as do others, but it used to be next time up your getting a high hard one under the chin and your tasting dirt. But now, even MLB is touting this type of thing in their “let the kids play” marketing campaign.

Again, I’d prefer not to see this stuff, but it doesn’t bother me enough to drive me away from the game(s). I just accept it as part of the fabric of the era and move on.
 
This attitude has been going for at least the past 3 years.

Doesn’t have anything to do with CGC.

I recall feeling the same way for multiple seasons that our players, especially defensive ones, over reacted after making a tackle, etc... when down in the game. It’s just today’s personality and the coaching staff not putting emphasis on remaining business like. Watch other programs. Some do it, some don’t.
 
To me it’s a maturity and understanding the game issue. If a DB breaks up a pass because he put himself in the right position to stop the catch, then by all means strut a little. But, when you are two steps behind the WR and the QB overthrows the pass, that really doesn’t merit the arm waving. Several times yesterday our DB’s were burned and the QB missed the throw. The arm waving after those were laughable. I was a GT guy before these players were born and on those plays they just looked like losers down by 17. I can guarantee Mack Brown will have that freshman QB hitting those passes in years to come.

I'm a big proponent of people shutting the öööö up and letting the players have fun. But I lean right on this issue for sure. I don't have any issue with positive energy after making a good play, even celebration. But regard for context when celebrating has taken a drop in college football in recent years, and I don't like seeing it from our guys any more than everyone else. A corner can be completely lost, with no sight of his man or the ball, but when the pass sails harmlessly out of bounds, he's still going to flex and pose and beat his chest. This makes no sense and I don't like it. The whole thing feels very avant-garde.

I agree with you on this - defenders should only
Celebrate an incomplete pass when they cause it.
 
I suppose one could argue they are celebrating the result and not their individual efforts but I highly doubt that's the case. Definitely not a good look either way.
 
Ready to take all the abuse about being an old grump but Here goes , I have tried to enjoy the game as beat possible and embrace all things new in our culture journey but I just don’t like the sideline dance show in middle of giving up 600 yards. The guy beside me after making same observation made a comment immediately after that obnoxious money down - watch UNC score. Well they did. Bad timing to say the least. I realize they are mixing money down with third down but I vote for end to that. Money down. Regardless I will be back and cheering for the SAs.

Finally I know all vibes are bad when losing but there is wierd I cannot put my finger on it bad vibe in the stadium. Just don’t feel right? Have no idea what to point my finger to but it is out of sync for me adjusting.

I really do appreciate how you feel and what you are saying.

I would say contact TStan, or ask him who you should contact.

The guys on the sideline trying to inspire their teammates on the field does not bother me as much as

- some of the antics the P/A announcer does.

- the greatly overused canned music. And the fact it is played up to the point of snap when our opponents have the ball. It doesn’t replace real crowd noise and it sounds childish and unsportsmanlike.

- Anytime a player makes a play and runs away from his teammates and draws attention to himself. (Hate him or really Hate him but one of the first team rules dooley ever instituted was that after a big play they celebrate as a team not as individuals).
 
I made my first game in-person yesterday. The money down is really silly. Really. Silly.

Methinks our D players celebrate a bit much. #6 has the best look at me celebration on the team, especially after barely getting in on a tackle after an 8 yard gain. He should save those for a TFL.

I was pleased to see some success on offense yesterday in the second half. I didn't expect us to score. But we didn't give up so thats good.
 
I don't mind a little talking or celebrating, but there is a time and a place. When you're getting your asses kicked over your shoulders , it doesn't look too good to do the worm after you make a tackle to stop a 15 yard gain.
 
If you don’t like players being very expressive you are probably not going to enjoy Collins. Of course, critics find such antics much cuter when we win while supporters find these behaviors tiresome when we lose.

I saw Temple play at ECU last Thursday. These are Collins’ players, albeit with a new coach. They entered the field gesturing at the home crowd. They were very demonstrative on both sides of the ball. At the third quarter break they seemed to enjoy the No QuarterFlag hoisting and danced to the music. The lights went out and the game was delayed with ten minutes to go. The ECU band did a great job playing during the blackout and the Temple kids started dancing to the band music, even interacting with the band, just having a good time. It was pretty cool.

I think Collins plans to recruit better athletes with the promise that they are going to have fun playing football. We are going to look a little more like The U and a little less like a service academy. That is his style. We hired him. Expecting him to tone down team antics is futile.
 
Given the outlook of the season, I'm somewhat tolerant of whatever keeps the kids morale up.
