Though unlikely altogether, do y'all think that an 0-1 GT has a better shot to make the playoffs than a 1-0 UT?

Theoretically if we win out that loss is not going to keep us out. But if UT loses a mid or late season game that win does very little to solidify their status. Plus I truly think we're a better team than them.

We have a better shot. easier for us to win the conference.

UT would have to beat Bama twice, which ain't happening. UT may get UF at home for a second straight year and that would help them.

The only people on Tennessee's team that deserved to win are their OL, their WRs, and their punter/kicker.

This was the closest thread I could find to share that thought

Well, let's just say that, if we did manage to run the table, a one-point double-overtime loss to an SEC team in the first start for our new QB and BB shouldn't hold us back. We've seen much worse "quality losses" on a resumé.

I thought this thread was going to ask something different: based on the first game, which fan base has more reason to feel optimistic? I'd say us. They looked like crap for much of the game and needed us to screw up several times -- screw ups they can't reliably hope to force game after game, namely two fumbles and two FG's -- just to get to OT. Obvs we all want the win not the loss, but on the whole we looked a lot better than they did in the general blocking and tackling of football.

This is exactly how I feel and why I wasn't so pissed off about the game

This is exactly how I feel and why I am still pissed off about the game.

Why would UT have to beat them twice? I'd imagine UT goes to the playoffs as long as they beat bama in the SEC championship game. 10-2 or 11-1 with a loss to bama in regular season still most likely gets them in.

Moot point, because it isn't going to happen.
