10 years ago on CPJ's radio show

I remember that. I was at Hudson Grille (I believe) that night. We all went bonkers. I truly believe CPJ disliked them as much as Spurrier. Let me edit this to say, that was back when we had a coach that had the gonads to face an audience.

I'll refer to what @ChattanoogaJacket posted a little later.

But some years ago, I'm at an event. PJ's there, Richt's there, so is a big media scrum.
There's about two dozen to 30 reporters from all over the state all over Richt.
It's just me and PJ at that point.
He looks at me and goes, "You don't think there's a media bias in this state?" (with an adjective or two left out in front of the word media)
Me: "Never said there wasn't, man."
Though I think PJ and Richt actually got along OK. There were at least cordial to each other. And PJ did say after the last game at Da U, when it rained and the field was a disaster, that Richt apologized to him before the game for the field conditions.

Erk is still much beloved among older mutts. But the way the school, and especially the president then, treated him and just out and out lied, I don't think that sat too well with Erk. At all.
In 88, when Dooley was set to retire, and all the Mutts wanted Erk to come home, they interviewed him but he turned down the job. Later that afternoon, the UGA president said they never offered him the job.
Erk was none too pleased when he found out that's what was said.
My source on this?
Me.
I'm the guy who had the duty to tell Erk that the Georgia president said they never offered him the job.

Glad that was you and not me. I'm not sure I would have had the gumption to say that to his face.

Luckily, I was on the phone with him at the time. Talking to him, it occurred to me, "he doesn't know they said they didn't offer him the job."
So I said, "Coach, they're saying they never offered you the job."

You talk about a 22-year-old physics major being scared like having another final he didn't study for.

Another aside: Jeff Dantzler, who does Georgia pre game or post game radio, grew up in Statesboro. He tells a great story about playing tennis against Erk when he was about 16 years old.
Erk kicked his ass.

If anyone can accomplish that then it's collins for sure, (I'd bet we gonna feel like it)
even tho last years game was cancelled due to the chinavirus.
Oh man, I totally forgot about that. I just went on autopilot and assumed we got our ass beat.

I don't even have feelings any more.

He has said he clearly doesn’t care about anyone other than the players.
I’ll say this for you Carson, you haven’t gotten any nastier toward Collins since you stated your real opinions about him. Now that we are all on your side we have gotten to where we hit below the belt but you’ve maintained your stance consistently without really badmouthing or getting in the gutter.

What’s a civil debate if you can’t be uncivil every now and then?

I just think people bust your chops here because you are passionate and young. They did the same öööö to me when I got here. And then I realized it’s a bunch of grumpy old men. Still the best fan forum at least in the ACC.

That's why people aren't willing to give this ass clown any breathing room. No accountability with the fans. He only does a five to ten minute walking conversation with Demetra on HIS OWN TV SHOW! Once again he is saying FU to the fans, I don't have time to explain anything to you a-holes. I'm gonna pull a Collins here and say, I personally don't give ONE SINGLE öööö WHAT ANYONE SAYS, we bring him back and we are COMPLETELY done! We were already in a hole ticket sales wise and we bring him back for ANOTHER year, we might have 10k season ticket sales next season. The money men and AD know this. I hear they are gonna TELL him to make many changes to the staff, but who are you gonna get that is worth a damn when the coach is on the hot seat. I know there have been people saying we can't afford the buyout. That is bullshit! If they want to get him out of here they will. Quit talking this öööö about not having the money. They have it, it is just a matter of if they want to spend it. I know people will say it is easy for me to say, I'm not the one paying for it and yeah, to a certain extent that is true. I'm not rich but I have probably spent HUNDREDS of thousands of dollars on season tickets, Tech merchandise, travel to away games in my 40 years as a Tech fan. And I'm not even an alum! I have been in a huge brawl in Athens, fist fight in Tallahassee, and had a knockout in Charlottesville. I say all that to say, I GIVE A DAMN! Probably too much of one, but I am completely out if they bring this monkey back! I guess I'm just saying, if they can lose me they can lose anyone. I will still go to hoops and beesball games but I'm done with the clown show. Just had to get all that off my chest. Thanks
AMEN, TELL IT LIKE IT IS!!!!

Spurrier was also the most candid coach in football. I'm sure CPJ held back quite a bit.
You should have heard him in the radio interviews after the game. He had this way of letting players know that their performance was not up to standard without mentioning names but if you paid attention during the game you knew exactly who he was talking about. He punctured many an over inflated ego during his time. The only time I can remember his being at a loss for words was in 1997 when Florida lost to Georgia primarily because injuries had decimated their defense but also because one player in particular had dropped two passes in the end zone that would have gone for touchdowns.
