100% confidence in O-line

If that is a verbatim quote from Key, it is a hodge podege of nothing.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but it essential just says, if we're gonna win it's going to be with the guys we have.

“A” for the positive attitude. But he knows he and Collins are all in this season, so what else would he say?

Interesting piece: Key’s group of linemen only includes two players whom he inherited from former coach Paul Johnson, guard Michael Maye and walk-on interior lineman William Lay. The rest, including all players expected to start or be key backups, are players that he personally selected. He has had two seasons to develop four linemen who he recruited and one season to train two more. As the Jackets aim to lift themselves out of the ACC’s cellar, the success of this most critical position group (or lack of it) will reflect on Key’s capacity as a recruiter and developer of talent.

He's brought in the recruits he's wated and has had time to develop them, he's now got a former SEC OL coach to help him train the players, run practices, plan game strategy, etc. I'm not sure what more GT can do to make Key successful, he's got damn near everyody else doing his job. Do we need to hire him a full time recruiter, a maid, chef, chaffeur and butler?

I am suddenly a super fan of walk-on and surprise play time candidate Joe Fusile, mentioned in the first article. He is big and had offers elsewhere but he was going to be a Yellow Jacket "whether they wanted me there or not". Man that almost brought a tear to my eye. Dude is just a R-F so he must be really bringing it. Oh yeah, he's an EE major. True Jacket!

Good for Fusile. It's always enjoyable when a walk on does good. EE ain't a bad backup plan if NFL isn't available.

Maybe this crew understands that the A gap needs to be blocked in pass protection

Glad he has 100% confidence. Clemson will be a hard gauge to use. But, if we hold our own against that defense, I will feel confident too.

Two days ago: “I’m still shuffling guys around”

Today: “By ‘shuffling’ I mean everything is set and things are great.”
Shuffling does not mean “not satisfied.”

Key needs to know who can play other positions (in case of injury) and what the chemistry of diff lineups is. To me, shuffling 3 weeks before TML says he has the base lineup figured out and is now experimenting so I read it quite diffferently.

Can’t argue with that. I hope he erases all doubts this year.

Good comments to hear, but honestly what does anybody expect to hear from coaches? "Well I'm 70% confident in my guys."
Right, they're not going to say "well they suck but what are you going to do?"

Among the OL expected to be ATL (good Lord, I hate that), the recruits/signees are going to be Williams, Vaipulu, Franklin, and probably Leftwich. Maybe Green, but even as KQ said in reviewing that class right after signing day, he was a project.
That's four, and maybe five, linemen who can help out of three and a half recruiting cycles.
We're going to be relying on Tchio, Quick, Robinson and Adams, the transfers. Tchio and Quick we offered, I believe, in high school, but I don't know about the other two. Throw Maye and Lay in there and that puts us at two complete lines. But I still don't think we're very deep. And I don't think we're deep enough.
