Has been interesting to say the least. I’m not saying CBK should or should not get the job at this point, but what I will say is that if he keeps on this track, then yes I think he deserves a hard look by the leadership of The Institute.

The thing I find somewhat baffling is how we have gone from where we were to where CBK has moved the program in less than two weeks. I’m not an expert by no means, but I spent 15 years coaching, albeit at high school level, and I have noticed some things these past two weeks that I didn’t previously:
(1) our LB’s seem to be getting better fits on run plays or filling the gaps in old terminology. Few weeks ago, those players seem to be out of position more often than not and we got gashed. It doesn’t hurt that our two inside guys could play just about anywhere in the country.
(2) While our OL play has not been good, it seemed to get better this week. I think that group played well at times, but most often they were just horrendous. Biggest thing I see watching them, especially on pass plays is they have a bad habit of dropping their heads which you just can’t do playing that position. There have also been way fewer motion penalties on that group.
(3) The play of our DB’s has been pretty darn good the last two weeks. We have faced, imo, a couple of decent quarterbacks and faired pretty well. i realize we gave up late yardage to Pitt, but overall they seem to be in better position to make plays and knock down a few balls.
(4) Our defensive game plan and game play is something we haven’t seen on a consistent basis in a long while. I don’t know if Thacker was hamstrung by previous coach or not, but what I do see is a more aggressive defense and play calling that will make you pay if you don’t account for all the players in the box. I also see us with the ability to get some pressure with the front four a good portion of the time.
(5) I think CBK has brought a different attitude to the table and the players have seemed to embrace that attitude.
(6) We are taking care of the ball offensiveLu and it shows with ZERO turnovers in the last two games. Sims has made some poor decisions and gotten away with most of them, but I also think he was way better against Duke than he was with Pitt.

I don’t know if we will stay on this track but it is definitely fun to be back in this position again. I could see us winning 3-5 more and becoming bowl eligible which is way more than what my and some of your expectations were just a few weeks ago.

Please post more often.

What do you know about offensive line play? Who have you ever known that was a decent offensive lineman?

Are we playing more man with the DBs? There always seems to be a guy on their WR now, where before it always felt like our players were constantly having to take an angle to get to their WR when the ball was thrown rather than already being on them.

It amazes me that, I assume, Thacker is once again DC. Are we seeing the REAL Thacker now? What did Collins do to him last year to make him look so incompetent then.?

Collins was likely overriding his gameday calls. Also possibly trying to get the kids to do too much reading rather than just playing their positions. There’s no question the defense (and offense) is better since the clown has been gone.

CGC reminds me of Putin (When you think you know more than the ones under you) And just don't listen.

After Ole Miss, a lot of talk about S&C because our players looked slow. They haven't looked slow the past 2 weeks. That's a testament to preparation.

We just look more competent and less chaotic in every facet of the game.

I would have to agree with you

Its hard to tell because of camera angle. But I would say we are playing a bit more man to man due to the fact that Thacker is bringing pressure with different blitz packages. We do seem to be in better position when playing zone 5hough because of the number of passes defended and/or knocked down

Some of you forget our D was really really good against Clemson and UCF too; we have some good players on that side and have been playing well all year (other than the Ole Miss disaster when we more or less quit in the 1st quarter)

UCF threw for like 50 yards; Clemson was a 17-10 game before we got some punts blocked and quit in the 4th quarter
