I seem to recall from the JOL guys that the base line for a prospect with a power 5 offer is 5.4 or 5.5. Regardless, this kid was unrated last Friday and was then rated a 5.5 based on no new information other than GT offered him.

He didn't get his rating until today, as far as I can tell, when the word was going around that he was committing to GT. Exact same thing happened with Demetrius Knight last year. If this were more than a placeholder, you'd think he would have been rated as of their last update, which was just a couple of weeks ago.
