Starting DE Chris Ellis and #2 WR (and top special teams player) Josh Morgan. Their #1 WR Clowney had an appendectomy on Thursday and is questionable - I don't see how he'd be available 9 days after surgery.

I knew about Clowney. Where did you see the info about Ellis and Morgan?

Kiss of death. We're ranked and they've suspended players. This is exactly where disaster strikes.

I don't get this fear of suspended players?

Because of something that happened 5 years ago against Fresno State? Ummm, maybe it was the 7 INTs that cost us that game.

Kind of like 1985 (the only year in the 80's we went to a bowl) when we suspended John Dewberry and Gary Lee...and still won the game against Michigan State behind a lot of Ted Roof-led defense and one long run by Malcolm King.

UVa suspended a handful of players against us last year.

There seems to be some kind of law of Georgia Tech football the past few years that when things look real good we lose ugly. That is why this is worrisome.

I concur.

Ok, even 2 games (in 5 years) does not make a trend.

Yes, but always losing to teams with suspended players does make a trend.

What's our record vs teams with suspended players over the last 5 years?

I guess. If always equals twice.

I'll give you Fresno State - even though it was a result of GT playing poorly & had nothing to do with who FSU 2 had on the field. Virginia was just a better team than us last year - it was a bad matchup & their suspended players didn't change that.

BTW, I'm sure we've won some games where the opponent had suspended players out. It's just human nature to remember the losses (and I guess the excuses that go along with the losses).

I, for one, am glad to see suspended players. Any disadvantage to VT is an advantage to us.

BTW, on a team of thugs, how badly does one have to act to get suspended?!

I thought it was more than just twice.

For instance, I believe UGA has had suspended players at least twice, and I believe Miami has had them at least once. I could just be projecting, though, which is why I asked the question.

When does UGAg or Miami not play with suspended players?

You know they must have done something really bad, being that VPI is a bunch of thugs. My new abbreviation for Virginia Tech is VThug.

Sometimes we're just such pansies. Who care who they have and who they don't? We win if we play well. We lose if we don't. I'll be some of you don't change underwear if we win either.

This is a good point. Does anyone actually know if having only three suspended for this game gets them closer to full strength?

Whoever the poster was that adamantly screamed and hollered to prevent VPI from entering the league was right, in retrospect.
Before I saw more of the yo-yo-kees, I had respect for Beamer. Not anymore. He is responsible for this crime family.

Screw History!! We need any help we can get!!

I really don't care what history says about us against teams with suspended players. VThug loses two starters one on D and one on O. The receiver is an impact player on special teams, taking away their edge on kick & punt returns. Actually unless the other wideout somehow recovers quickly, VThug will be down two starting receivers. tomorrow's point spread should go down a point or two.

I fully understand that the oddsmaker's job is to get as much equal action on either side before KO.

That said, I agree that these suspensions will only affect the line by a point or 1.5 at the most. If so, I expect that those with the propensity to "make the game a little more fun" will load up on the Jackets.

Maybe they will.
