Here are some newbies on the block. Most everybody is going with some goofy update. Feel free to add your own additions to this thread.

Here's is Arkansas, complete with tusk stripes coming out of their waist:

Well, here's a change-up for you. Oregon State put a stop to the Nike madness, going from

Those Arkansas unis are gross....their old ones were some of the best unis in college football.

Wow!!! the first one's were hard to look at, the second uni's look right on.

Looks like the Vowels will bring 'urnge pants back to their road uniforms for the first time in about 15 years.

^ Those new Dook unis and Vandy unis look sharp.

Here's the winner IMO!

June Jones has come to SMU and taken them from this:

There is a rumor that Clem & his Son will bust out purple helmets in their opener against Bama.

Good God. They're going to milk the "purple" thing for all it's worth. I can hear the 2011 call for a Saturday Night Prime Time game against us on ESPN.

"As the Tigers are stirring in the locker room preparing to come out for the most exciting rock-molesting in all of collegiate athletics, I'd like to remind the folks at home of the rumors that have brought the electricity to Death Valley tonight. It's been 83 years since a Clemson Tiger team wore purple jock straps. The rumors say it's a symbol of the unity their units.

The Tigers walk, arms locked together coming out of the locker room and I think.. YES! They've done it! With their pants over their shoulders, the Tigers are showing God and these Yellow Jackets that they have at last unlocked the secret to penetrating the second half of the season without faltering and coming up short. One of the more stirring moments in my memory of this sport, and I am all wet."

So I guess we aren't the only ones casting aside time honored tradition to cozy up to the uniform vendors. Actually, a case could be made that if everyone was changing to "new and improved" uniforms and we were standing pat we'd be viewed and old and tired. I was a freshman when Dodd left and Carson ushered in the gold jersey/white pants era. It was not popular with the "yellah britches" crowd at first, but last time I checked it was still part of our ensemble forty years later.

I don't think it's a matter of pleasing the uniform vendors. I doubt Russell cares if we order traditional or new age uniforms from them, as long as they have an R on the shoulder.

I'm not sure who we're trying to please with the new uniforms. Possibly the children and teenagers who buy most of the replica jerseys.

Like that SMU going back to traditional...will look sharp. Arkansas is going from really good to not good. UCF's gold is way too light...don't like it (even if it's not new).

Clemson and purple...well, it's already bad enough having to combine orange & purple, so how can it get worse? I'd rather see all purple than them do purple jerseys with an orange helmet.

Is that Reggie Fish? I'm surprised they have uniforms available in child sizes.

You answered your own question. Of course the vendor is interested in apparel sales. That's why they contract with Tech, Georgia, Michael Phelps, Oregon, etc. Our football team serves as a walking billboard for their product. Do you think Russell or Nike want to sell us a uniform that won't sell on a worldwide basis. The deal is this--wear this uniform and we will provide all the jerseys, pants and helmets you need.
If it doesn't sell, look for the vendor to try to implement a change to something else-----'cutting edge'.
