At COFH in 2009...

GT was 10-1, ranked #7 in the land, excited about the ACCCG, and nursing hopes of a shot at the NC.
UGA was 6-5, unranked, nowhere close to the SECCG, and looking forward to some minor bowl (Independence, it turned out).

GT was favored but lost — the first time ever that a ranked GT team lost to an unranked UGA team. Still the bitterest loss in CPJ's tenure, IMHO.

At COFH in 2017...

UGA is 10-1, ranked #7 in the land, excited about the SECCG, and nursing hopes of a shot at the NC.
GT is 5-5, unranked, nowhere close to the ACCCG, and hoping to get a chance at a minor bowl (perhaps the Independence).

Seems like a great opportunity to continue the replay of history in reverse.

I think that 2009 game was highlighted by the fact that the winning team had overcome the largest deficit in terms of fewer games won (4) than at any time in the series. To win this year Tech would have to overcome a 5 game win deficit. Ain't gonna happen. In 2009 they hammered us unmercifully on the ground all game long. That we even had a chance at the end for a miracle was amazing after the beat down they administered in the trenches. I'm afraid they are going to run through us, around us, and past us for all 60 minutes this time.

I imagine a similar sentiment was shared in ‘09 on the rant.

If Bey Bey caught the easy sideline pass on 4th & 10, we continue our march and win 31-30.

Their fate is sealed. We won this game long ago.

For it to really make sense as a reversal, the game would need to be in Athens...
Even with the idea that we may break the hearts of everyone who wears that stolen Packers logo, you have to find something to bitch about. Sad!

I can still seeing that ball hitting him in the hands and him turning and I can still remember thinking we had the first down. We had it. It was there. Then the split-second of confusion as my brain couldn't possibly process that pass being dropped.

It was there.

On the west sideline. Seared into my brain.

Because I'm a glutton for punishment, I just looked up that series on Youtube. I had forgotten than Stephen Hill got hurt on 2nd down before that drop and taken off the field. Shouldn't have mattered, Bey Bey was wide the öööö open...

I was in the south end zone. Watching the play happen right in front of me, going towards the north end zone. Was in hysteria thinking he caught it. Then realizing he didn't. Microcosm of Tech fanhood. Never as good as it seems, usually pretty bad tho

öööö off you ass clown. Not bitching at all - just pointing out the inconsistency in the comparison. Not surprised that you lap up this stupidity.

You have really been posting some stupid shit lately. Is everything ok?

Sitting in the west stands, and my buddy turns to me and goes "what will PJ call here?" and I said a comeback route to BayBay on the sidelines. ... ... ...

Son. Of. A. Bitc.............

What I remember is on the final set of downs, CPJ suddenly thinking that we were Hawaii and started chucking it deep, instead of trying to keep running the ball.

Well, they were actually 5-6 and a loss to us would end their bowl streak.
