2009 Nesbitt Goals

Reading the Quarterbacks/Receivers 2009 outlook on Jacket Buzz I couldn't help but take particular notice of one line "Nesbitt has set lofty goals for himself of 2,000 yards passing and 1,000 yards rushing..."

That would be awesome however if he focuses on those numbers throughout the season he MAY become predisposed to keeping the ball when either the dive or the pitch would be more productive.

I am a JN fan with no intentions of bashing him. Setting goals are certainly a good thing. My point being that the opposing defense will and should dictate his decision process. Don't shout me down. Am I over analyzing that statement?
 
if he does that he would win the heisman in a land slide, don't count on it

Put it this way, CPJ will put the best 11 players on the field on both sides of the ball. If any player puts himself ahead of the team and starts making the wrong decisions (like focusing on stats), I trust CPJ to correct that problem or else the player won't see much of the field.

Nesbitt performed so well as a first-year starter that Johnson has given him an ambitious target for the 2009 season: 2,000 passing yards and 1,000 rushing yards. Only six quarterbacks have reached those totals in NCAA history.

"I think that would be a good goal for him to have," Johnson said. "If he stays healthy, he certainly can accomplish that."

The guy who once tucked away any thoughts of running an option attack has found a home in Johnson's system. That much is apparent when Nesbitt describes the type of play that gives him the biggest thrill.

He could mention going on a breakaway run. Or he might talk about throwing a long completion. He instead goes with a third option.

"I would say it's faking the dive, making the pitch and having the back go for a long touchdown run," Nesbitt said.

Nesbitt isn't a stat guy.

Remember after he rushed for over 150 at VT and set a QB rushing record for GT. His quote after the game was none of it matters because we lost the game.

Yeah, it seemed like he took every loss last year as a personal kick in the nuts.

Maybe in 2010. The only way anybody from GT will see the top 3 in the Heisman voting is if you Shoot Tim Tebow, Sam Bradford, and Colt McCoy in the leg. In fact you should probably unload the clip into Tebow just to leave no doubt.
 
^I don't know. Anything can happen. It would very much surprise me to have a GT player win it this year, but I would not be surprised to have one (likely JD) in the top three. It only takes one injury or a couple of bad games. However, in all likelihood you named the three finalists.
 
I can see Jon Dwyer getting invited to the ceremony if he puts up numbers like he did against Miami and UGA all season long. Also, I don't think Bradford will do nearly as well this season. I still say McCoy wins the award.
 
My Goals for Nesbitt in 2009-10:

1. Limit unforced fumbles (bad center-QB exchanges, bad pitches).
2. Keep the ball more often (if you analyze the incorrect decisions of Nesbitt, it was more often him giving up the ball instead of keeping it).
3. Implement the fake pitch.
4. Limit injuries (can't be controlled, it's more of a wish :fingersx:)
5. Beat UGA.

If all of those are accomplished, we win the ACC for sure.

Yes.
 
I was watching spring game highlights and interviews on CSS last night and the 2008 goals that were on the lockerroom wall were:

1. Beat UGAy
2. Win ACC
3. Have highest turnover margin in nation
4. Win every home game
5. Top 10 in rushing yards per game for offense and defense.


I may have messed up the order after #1, but those were the goals last year.
