2016 BTC Market Transaction Thread - Week 4

Thought/question - is there a way to count negative comments on here to increase the value of butthurt? We seem to have several folks on here who continue to be negative (shocking discovery, I know) even during weeks after we win. Or maybe take a look at the "official [opponent] prediction thread" and use the average prediction as an input to the butthurt value?

I recognize this is immense challenge and is probably beyond the scope of what you were wanting to do. Just thinking of something else to add to this game.

Could be possible to compile the number of total bigcries and dislikes to gauge butthurt.

I think we need weekly polls started a day after the game ending the day before the game of gauging what the board thinks our chances are against an opponent. This way we can have a better gauge of butthurt than preseason polls. Because the .38 probability from the preseason poll is not a good measure of the expectations of the fanbase leading up to the game. After going 3-0 I think people were more hyped up so I think the probability of win went up to more like .5 or even .6 right before the game. That creates more butthurt than if we lose a .38 game. @coit i think that will be a better measure.

Yeah, that is a good idea. I did some second chance polls last year after our abysmal start, but there really wasn't that much interest in them from a participation standpoint.

The only way to do that is historically seeing what the butthurt generally is in similar situations. Going back and counting the negative comments and bigcries and arguments and firecpjs. I embarked on doing that when I said I would start the butthurt market but it's a lot of work. Unless I can get an admin to give me access to the database so I can run a SQL algorithm on it.

You can award cash or butthurt for participating in the second chance polls. Not a whole lot, just some. It will also allow some people who haven't participated before to get into the BHC market.

Mebbe next year.

I just thought this would be a fun little game to play based on who thinks we are going to win in a given week and who thinks we are going to lose. Hopefully it will start to pick up in the next few weeks now that we are into the games that have a fair amount of uncertainty to them.
