I cannot recall a time when we had four and five star players visiting on a continuous basis.
It’s not uncommon. We’re in Atlanta. Studs have always swung through to check us out even in the CPJ years. Probably the easiest school to take an unofficial in the SE.
So does that somehow mean he wouldn’t want to get wined and dined in downtown Atlanta?Local kid
That only happens on OVs.So does that somehow mean he wouldn’t want to get wined and dined in downtown Atlanta?

That’s why we tend to get a lot of unofficials. We’re a transportation hub that has a lot of talent within cheap travel distance.
without a doubt Key is sincere and loves GT. That has to rub off on some of the 4's and 5 stars.I have concluded that success is pretty much about 90% getting the right head coach. If we ever do (hope Key is it) we have a top 25 team just laying around within 50 miles of campus, easy, even with most of the 5 stars picked out of it.

We never had this many during the CPJ years. A few 4 stars that we landed here and there. Right now we have lots of visits from many blue chippers. Our class so far is solid with many being borderline 4 star composite players. We had quite a few in CGCs first year but quickly waned after that. I think the hires we've made to build in roads to the GHSA schools and others in the South (coaching liaisons, etc.) I think is going to be the key. Again time will tell but we've never had this many staff on board to bolster recruitment efforts and relationship building. I just hope we can retain our staff at least for a few seasons....for continuity purposes.
I agree with pretty much all of that but unfortunately, I think the last two words are the deciding factor. It all comes down to the nil money.IMHO, I think three things are bringing new interest this year:
1) Players can tell that CBK is a real football coach who (actually) coached/learned under Saban
2) Our grit and performance under Key in the first half of the Ugag game opened some kids' eyes on the potential future here
3) Playing time can come early, and with that exposure and potential to succeed early, kids know that they can stay and be part of our great tradition while playing in Atlanta, or they can parlay that early success here into a factory slot and make big bucks.
We definitely have a renewed opportunity to get good players here.
Our job is to close the deal and to keep them through winning, improved fan support, and NIL support.
Winning cures all illsI agree with pretty much all of that but unfortunately, I think the last two words are the deciding factor. It all comes down to the nil money.
The coach and winning can get them here (not counting the studs who are getting bought straight out of high school) but we'll have to pay to keep them once they show out in college.
We (and all non factory schools) have to find a way to fund our nill or we'll just be a farm system for the factories.
I'm afraid the days of the underdog are over and the factories will just scrimmage until the post season. You already have the same teams in the playoffs almost every year with a surprise every now and then but the top 6-8 teams will just get better and better buying the top talent and the others will not be able to keep up. I'm hope I'm wrong but money talks and we don't currently have/spend it.
Did that work for Charlie Sheen?Winning cures all ills
Charlie Sheen was more of a “if you don’t see the progress you don’t want to see the progress” kind of guy. He just called it winning.Did that work for Charlie Sheen?
Until I see otherwise, this is my default opinion. The CFB Industrial Complex has spoken, the schools who turned CFB into an industry have consolidated their gains, and with NIL the rich are getting richer. Yes, winning is the answer, but how many wins will come against the schools that have sold their souls to the CFBIC? The underclass can beat each other, but there already aren't many against the overlords. Those will become fewer and fewer as NIL grows.I agree with pretty much all of that but unfortunately, I think the last two words are the deciding factor. It all comes down to the nil money.

I think that many here haven't lived in areas where football is elevated to god status. We deal with UGA, and that's bad, but in AL, LA, FL, OK, and TX football is the raison d'etre for many, many fans/alumni Many would give their last dollar to The Fund.
Look at this list:
Alabama
Georgia
LSU
Florida
Tennessee
Texas
Oklahoma
Clemson
FSU
GA Tech
One of those is not like the others.
I don't think anybody is saying it made us a 3-9 team. There is no reason we can't be better than duke, wake, uva, Louisville, and the like. Most teams can't or don't spend the money required to get in that upper level. The difference between the 8th ranked team and the 15th ranked team is huge and probably only going to get bigger. We haven't been in that tier since the 50's, have we? The rich have been rich for a long time. They can just spend openly now. Let's get back to winning 8 games a year, when the stars align, we can pop a 1990 or 2014 type season. That's been our formula for decades. NIL issues didn't make us a 3-9 team.
