2025 Recruiting

We haven't been in that tier since the 50's, have we? The rich have been rich for a long time. They can just spend openly now. Let's get back to winning 8 games a year, when the stars align, we can pop a 1990 or 2014 type season. That's been our formula for decades. NIL issues didn't make us a 3-9 team.
I agree on our status. Not saying that NIL did. Just saying that I believe NIL will make it harder, not easier, as it will empower the rich to get richer. I don't really know that it changes anything in the packing order of the underclass. We will see soon enough though.

Most teams can't or don't spend the money required to get in that upper level. The difference between the 8th ranked team and the 15th ranked team is huge and probably only going to get bigger.

but the difference between #30 and #60 isn't much in terms of teams bouncing up and down in that area, so let's get to the top of that and see what it looks like

Until I see otherwise, this is my default opinion. The CFB Industrial Complex has spoken, the schools who turned CFB into an industry have consolidated their gains, and with NIL the rich are getting richer. Yes, winning is the answer, but how many wins will come against the schools that have sold their souls to the CFBIC? The underclass can beat each other, but there already aren't many against the overlords. Those will become fewer and fewer as NIL grows.

I think that many here haven't lived in areas where football is elevated to god status. We deal with UGA, and that's bad, but in AL, LA, FL, OK, and TX football is the raison d'etre for many, many fans/alumni Many would give their last dollar to The Fund.

Look at this list:
Alabama
Georgia
LSU
Florida
Tennessee
Texas
Oklahoma
Clemson
FSU
GA Tech

One of those is not like the others.
You are missing many that should also make up this list even if not in the South or Southwest. USC, Ohio State, Michigan are of similar culture. Maybe not USC by their average grad/fan but LA money makes up for the lack in culture. Mississippi and Arkansas are also just as devoted they just lack the recruits within their own states due to lower populations but they certainly are as rabid same with WVU. Most of our Engineers just prefer to build up a nice nest for the future instead of becoming a T. Boone Pickens, Phil Knight, or a Kevin Plank. The Brocks and a few other boosters have certainly helped but not at the same level as those listed and/or they are simply to few to compete with the schools you listed or some that I added. But guessing with 3/4 four stars recently recruited maybe our NIL is at least picking up. :)
