It's highlights, so you can never really judge his weaknesses very well. That said, his field awareness on the video is impressive. Understands how he is being blocked and keeps his eyes in the backfield to diagnose where the play is going. He doesn't tend to bull rush much in the video, tending more to use his hip flexibility to find an angle past the blocker after they take their first step, but he definitely gets in the backfield in a hurry when he's unblocked. Really liked how he didn't run himself out of position. When the OL has hold of him, he's keeping his eyes on the backfield manipulating himself into position to shed the block and pursue the ball carrier. Drops into coverage and uses his height and leaping to erase underneath stuff.

Needs to be better with his hands, I think, and it's hard to judge his strength against FBS level linemen. A lot more QBs he'll face in college will be able to shed hits, so might need to work on tackling. If the awareness carries through and isn't just highlights, I think that will bode well for early impact. Maybe not stuffing the stat sheet, but if he can hold his ground and cover gaps and be good in pursuit, that'll do more than nicely.
 
I saw North play Shiloh in the playoffs when I was down for the Va Tech game. I knew nothing about Ivey and was a fan five minutes into the game. He was unblockable and a great finisher. North had more 6’4” to 6’6” athletes running around than I’ve seen on a high school squad. Ivey was the best of them.
 
The range Ivey has in the highlight vids were what stuck out to me most. Dude was covering ground.

While we admittedly werent great at pressuring QBs, i feel this really was our weakness this year. DEs and LBs were not able to cover enough ground on the outside.

Curry looked like he was running in sand a lot out there. Remember a play against USF that was especially depressing.

I liked seeing him rush upfield, but watch the QB for a draw up the middle. We've been burnt by that kind of play a ton over the years, and if Ivey can keep those instincts, it will cut out a lot of that hopefully.
