33Jacket - a question for ya.....

PJ's defenses at GSU never had a problem dealing with conventional offenses. In fact, most, if not all of his defenses at GSU gave up less than 20 ppg. Some were under 15 ppg. If GT has the talent on D, they will be fine.

So what you guys are saying is that to be successful a team has to run the same defense and offense as the teams on their schedules so they can practice against what they will see in games?

I dont know any more about football than the next guy... but I do know that at every level PJ has been he has done well. I believe his system will work at this level, it has before and one thing you learn about old things is that history has a way of repeating itself. I can see where the concern over recruiting is coming from but I take solace in this, if we can only recruit half as well as the best team on our schedule (ugag) then I see no reason why we cannot win the ACC 1/3 AND beat UGA 50% of the time for 4 reasons.
1) Our coach is better than most in gameday situations... dont let this good ole boy persona fool you this guy knows his stuff
2) Our athletes will be tough like popeye and wont need the spinich (sp?) I dont have any insider info but I believe you are about to see some of the toughest young men in white n gold that you have seen in a long while
3) Our players will know what they are doing in most every circumstance or they wont be on the field. Now I know we need players on the field so i'll be banking on the "will know what they are doing"
4) From what I have heard PJ hates ugag as much as me and you.
Now let's all have a drink for the hope that someday in athens PJ's name will be spoken of with the likes of the usuce coach.

Hey thanks for the message. I am in the airport on my BB right now.

My quick thoughts are this.....

33, I appreciate your thoughtful response. Glad you didn't respond via your BB while driving! :P

If PJ is the coach we think and hope he is, he'll find a workaround for the TO and scout team practices.

I don't get it either. The argument boils down to, "the only way to get good is to do the same thing everyone else does," which is clearly wrong.

33jacket was right. We haven't landed any top recruits and our previous top recruits have decommitted. Not saying the guys we got aren't good, but they are more geared to be system players.

I don't think anyone said that. And I know I didn't. What i did say is I am concerned and wonder about its long term effects on the ability to defend teams that pass the ball more.

Yes...it is a concern. Doesn't mean it ends up being a reality. You guys read way too much into things sometimes...
