3rd Tier

How does GT's record compare to Colorado's since 90?

As painful as this may be for some, since from 90 to last year, Colorado was 131-73-4 and Tech was 114-84-1. We played in 12 bowl games and they played in 13.

Here's the wikipedia page on Colorado's football results.

I would say that GT's done better since when GOL started coaching, although Colorado did have a lot of success in the early 90's.

goldmember, I did read the article. I don't remember Colorado's successful years in the Big 8, but Colorado doesn't have near the same stature as LSU or some other teams in its tier. They had a good run in the early 90s, along with an ill-gotten MNC, but that's really it.

GTH? Damn Good Rat?

You just can't get something like that at Tech...we can't even get everybody to dress in all yellow.

Maybe we have a problem in freshman orientation these days? Good Luck in ur getting edjukated.

i agree that Colorado is a reach. Probably the way he made the tiers but us and Colorado are borderline tier 2/3.

...? What do you mean? Are you trying to say that everyone DOES dress in yellow at our games? We must be going to different stadiums. The student section is usually good about it, but everyone else...not so much.

I don't know what he meant necessarily, but I would point out that our colors are white and gold, which most folks wear.

Did you guys read it?

It is not tiered based on performance, more on name recognition and program stature. Alabama and Penn State are both in the first tier.

I agree about Bama and Penn State. I grew up a big Bama fan until I enrolled at Tech, and the "aura" surrounding Bama football is pretty ridiculous. After we beat Auburn two years ago, I was the hero of half my friends, and the outcast of the other half. That being said, I still would not rank us as a third tier program. Our experience is different, but unique.

Maybe this is a little off topic, but after having been in both student sections, I can say that the one in Tuscaloosa doesn't even come close to ours. Though I haven't been a part of the "program" for that long, perhaps this could a sign of optimism? Maybe the stadium will start getting filled here in a few years. Or, is there just a significant drop-off of interest after graduation?
