What is this? I have no idea what I am looking at.

We have the same recruiting rank as UGA essentially. That is very uncommon at this point in the year. If you haven't been following UGA (nobody would blame you), Kirby got in the wrong way with some recruiting big wigs and is in deep shit in the state of Georgia right now. It's fun times over there.

Recruiting rankings are some of the dumbest öööö on this planet

Agreed. I used to follow recruiting really closely until a few years ago. Stopped caring about rankings as I watched highly regarded 3 & 4 star kids do öööö all while 2 star kids would lead the team in tackles.

Tell me more...haven't heard about this. Not being a smart ass but source?

It's the start of a death spiral. 1. Bad season, 2. Lose recruits, 3. Worse season... Kirby, and uGA historically, is not the kind of person who can "coach up" players. They're always worse than their recruit rankings would indicate.

I'm starting to think that Kirby had the worst personality among an Alabama coaching squad that included Nick Saban and Lane Kiffen.

Source is periodically following the SECRant UGA board for laughs. Kirby got on the bad side of a youth football coach named Kenyatta Watson who has been an influential figure in recruiting in Georgia for a few years now. He ran some camp / game for elite college prospects and is kind of the gate keeper to a lot of kids everyone wants. He went out and publicly expressed his disappointment that Kirby wasn't paying enough attention to his guys, which caused some UGA "insiders" to spit venom at him, including labeling him a bag man and saying all sorts of other well thought out things. That caused Kenyatta and several recruits to publicly distance themselves from UGA, citing that Kirby didn't care about them at all, and they had a series of decommits shortly thereafter.

Meanwhile, they are off to such a slow start in recruiting otherwise, they are only beating Mizzou in the SEC. Everyone over there was freaking out, and a lot of them publicly blamed coach Watson. It sort of came to a head over there when one of coach Watson's associates on the SECRant blew up in their subscriber only section and the mods banned all talk of the whole tiff from the public board. I don't know what state it's in now, since it's been several months, but they are not having the kind of success that builds long careers right now. Although their 2019 class is top 5 in the nation as we speak. Whatever that's worth.

I think Akinji needs to take back some things he said about this young man's mother

Did you not think that he recommitted because of the things I said?

You're welcome Jacket Hearts.

Kirby won't be around to see his 2019 class.

Thanks for the input. I vaguely remember someone linking a podcast of that guy (maybe you) and I listened to them talk about how he was pissed off at georgia fans, not a bag man, etc but didn't have the context and damn sure didn't realize the guy was anyone that mattered. I seriously doubt the guy will start sending kids to Tech or anything but if he sends them away from georgia, I am a fan. I think I remember him saying he played at BC back in the day and just wants to help kids get exposure and help them through the process.

Yeah, I get the impression that he's really just a hard charging kind of guy who likes what he does and unfortunately he's in an environment that invites scrutiny. I have read online he has similar criticisms of Tech recruiting with regards to timing of offers and maintenance of relationships in the state of Georgia, but he recognizes the significant difference in our requirements and budget hold us back.

As for sending kids places, seems to me like he just wants them to get the best offers they can. Helps them and helps his cred no matter where they go. I doubt he's acting against UGA in any deliberate manner, but the whole thing was very visible compared to usual recruiting activity and lots of kids were watching. Word of mouth is really powerful, too, and a lot of the top guys talk.

Richt left the cupboard bare...

Eason will be the greatest QB in SEC history, and Fromm is even better. Chubb and Michel for co-Heisman...

... How is Kirby supposed to win with these players? Once he gets his guys: Alabama 2.0.
