Disappointments for the last 3 games for sure.. but all in all, if anyone had said that we would play in the ACCCG, and lose, play in the Gator Bowl, we probably would have taken that in August.

The better team won today.. most people thought WVA would rout Tech.. Taylor and the offense played a great game (or at least a half).. we have most of our guys coming back next year (Calvin?) .. and some redshirt freshmen who will help.. alot to look forward to..

Next year we return to the ACCCG.. beat Ga.. win the ACC go to the Orange Bowl..

Thank for the effort guys.. Go Jackets !!

Another year:

- Loss to Georgia
- No ACC Championship
- No top 25 ranking

No different than the other four years.

We learned alot today. I think we played great football today and met an offense that did alot of things our defense couldn't keep up with all game. As a result, they got the one up on us with some good offense and a couple of lucky bounces.

With Calvin back next year, I'm really confident that we'll be back in the ACC Championship Game. If he leaves, I think we will compete but it will be much more dicey.

Good year, Yellow Jackets - I am proud of you.

There are goals we came up short on, but that does not ruin a very good overall year.

Go Jackets!

Don't buy the "not too shabby". The only teams we should have lost to this year were ND, Clemson and VT. Won one we shouldn't have , but lost 3 we should have won.

You have no understanding of the word "Achieving" if you really think this was not a shabby season. This season can be summed up with the fact that we pissed away every opportunity to take the step we needed to consider this season a great success. Pissed away every one.

yep

I agree with all of you except jacketguy - this season was in my opinion nothing more than decent. A win today could have made it good, and a couple more wins could have made it great.

Still, I'm proud of the Jackets, and I'm looking forward to next year.

we also did not win the national championship OR at least play in the BCS title game

Typical Chan Gailey year. Two of those GT wins were to cupcake teams and we only had 7 quality wins. Gailey is a nice man but not a coach that will take Tech to the next achievement level. Looks like Rad will have some hard decisions to make over the next few years.

Tell me what team in Div. I-A did not play two cupcake teams this year? I'm not arguing that this was a great season, but that's a ridiculous argument.

Actually 4 cupcake teams, if you count Dook and UNC.....

Means we were only a .500 team against the rest in a weak year for the ACC and a down year for Ugag....

7-6
7-6
7-5
7-5
9-5

...pretty much par for the course IMO, not bad but not particularly good either.

Gailey and Co. just choked a huge lead against a poor pass rush defense. We lose to UGA again. We'll not be ranked in the top 25. We lose five games. Lose three of the last four and two of those teams had qb freshmen leading their charge. We have an all world reciever.. and still get these results. And you say "not a shappy season"!!! :wow:

This is the same stuff Gailey produces EVERY year. Next year will be no different. Heck, it may even be worse.

Not really. When you play cupcakes, you're expected to win those games. Beating teams like Samford and Troy don't get me very excited about Tech football, while beating teams like UGA certainly do. We had our chances to end this season on a really good note and we just failed to sieze the moment on multiple occassions.

I expect some will spin this season in the best light possible but I still think we only had 7 quality wins in a disappointing 9-5 season.

I didn't make any statement opposed to what you just posted, but your first post basically argued that we didn't deserve the two cupcake wins and "really we only won 7 games" when every other team in the country does the same thing.

Beating Samford, Troy, Duke, and UNC does not get me excited either - I expect us to win. Our season was decent at best with several missed opportunities. Please don't put words in my mouth.

Nine wins, 7-1 in conference, division title - all very good things about this season. Three losses decided by less than a touchdown to end the season on a three game losing streak to the Dawgs, in the ACC Championship, and Gator Bowl - all very disappointing, even heartbreaking to players, coaches, and fans.

We were so close to having the truly great season, yet so far. I said last year keeping Chan and continuing our direction was the best chance to get us off 7 and up to 9 wins.

Now, we have to keep improving coaching and playing to get over the hump and beat the Dawgs and play in the BCS. You only get so many chances, and it hurts to have blown a really good chance to be exceptional this year.

After the last three games, I'm ready for a break. But, I'll be ready to look forward to toe meeting leather again by spring practice.

Our season was decent at best with several missed opportunities.

Our season was typical Chan Gailey football du jour and that's the primary underlying point that most of us are trying to make here.

I'm definitely encouraged that we may have found a QB to lead us into the 2007 season.
