Random thoughts:

1) Being a glutton for punishment I suppose, I stayed until the last painful second went off the clock because our team had to stay to the end.

I am not an entitlement person that believes I am "owed" something by them. They invest time, physical equity, and mental equity....I invest time and money. Its a value to value transaction! If it was the NFL I would feel differently.

Anyway...regardless of how we feel about the coach...it was low class to boo him when he is doing a "don't drink and drive" commercial on the jumbotron. There were two sidewalk fans next to me who immediately said to each other that they "thought GT fans had more class than that". They were truly shocked. I just sat there and bit my tongue because I had no rebuttal for them.

Seeing a loss like that is not a good thing...but seeing the head man boo'd (sp?) by his own fans is horrible for 17 year old recruits. Omoregie Uzzi and Matt Roark were there....as were 10 current commits...and about 15 top in-state juniors for 2009.

We already have enough problems...why make it worse. arrgh.

2) Both sides of the ball were pretty poor tonight...can't pin it on either side independently.

While the defense has played well overall this year...we have have given up some momentum killing long drives for some reason this year.

We had the long offensive drive to open the game last night...completing pass after pass...get 3 points on the board. Instead of creating a 3 and out to get the ball back and keep momentum...we give up a long drive that took most of the 1st qtr it seems....then did the same thing again after the onside kick. We did not have our third possession until well into the 2nd quarter. Again....the offense has to respond to that and didn't....but they did get cold.

We did the same thing against Maryland after our offense came out in the second half with a long drive for a TD...changed the momentum. However, we then promptly gave up a long drive back the other way and eliminated our previous score.

Its the timeliness that has killed us, not the sum total of points.

Last night...both sides looked bad. Though I will say that our DL worked their butt off defensively.

3) No clear solutions moving forward. A lot of good speculation and ideas...but no solutions. This is a frustrating time with a lot of considerations. We are in a tough spot. Whatever happens either way, the position needs to be stated clearly and quickly from the top so that we can minimized the damage to our infrastructure (recruiting). Also...regardless of what happends, Giff Smith better be kept on board (our Rodney Garner)...and probably should keep the chaplain Derrick Moore. Either way....we need some things clearly stated from the top so we can move forward with a strong position one way or the other. That I think we can all agree on.

Go Jackets!

1) We've stuck with Chan and supported him, overall, for a long time. We do have class, because at any other school with expectation of a good football team he would have been booed years ago and boosters would have been calling for his head. There is a limit to how much you can take before you voice your displeasure, especially with all the money people pour into this team(especially with the recently raised ticket prices...).

2) This happens to us all the time this year because we can't defend the pass. They were pretty much able to get a 7 yard completion whenever they wanted, so they just dinked and dunked us all the way down the field, two drives in a row.

3) We are in a tough spot, but if we get rid of Chan he certainly won't have left the cupboard bare. Talentwise, I think our future looks pretty bright, all things considered.

Regarding your first point...I see how many people (probably most) are upset. I just think because DRad is so easy to communicate with that any displeasure is better handed directly with him....rather than damage our infrastructure further by a public bashing in front of players and recruits. That is long-term damage beyong any coach....partcularly for a school like ours where recruiting is a marathon.

Certainly agree about Smith, but why Moore? Does he recruit?

Only on campus...and he is a "glue guy" that keeps the team together and unites them. The players absolutely love Derrick. He is a lot like Tashard in many ways from a charisma standpoint.

For instance, he is the guy Brandon Thompson has identified with.

Booing your coach after a terrible loss on a nationally televised night with LOTS OF RECRUITS VISITING is about the dumbest thing anyone could do.

If recruiting is truly a marathon, then whatever 'damage' is done should have minimal impact. Any coaching change is going to affect recuiting, no matter how seamless. Putting on a false face for the sake of recruiting, only to have them come here and find out it was a sham is worse IMO.

DRad was there last night. Having the coach receive a public 'basing' from whatever fans remained in our mostly empty stadium (at that point) probably had a much larger impact on him than any e-mail he has received this morning.

My family lives in the Kennesaw area and our kids go to harrison high school which is the same high school as the punt returner Tyler Evans. Tyler has told numerous people around our program that Coach gailey is truly loved by the players. I do not doubt this as it is reflected by the recruiting classes he has signed over the past few years.

Brother and sisters if Chan is fired expect the recruiting class to fall apart unless something is done very quickly. That said, and I have not changed my opinion, he needs to go. Sometimes you have to take a few steps back before you move forward.

You can't shield these recruits from the truth and frankly it would be disingenuous to pretend like Chan is beloved by the fans. Chan brought those boos upon himself through his six years of work.

I also LOVE to win, it aint about how to win friends and influence people.

Obviously that love doesn't translate into performance.

My point was to have enough class not to do it. If one does not have class, then hopefully the recruiting scenario would resonate.

But if one lacks class and is also ignorant...not much I can do but hope they start cheering for UGA where they belong.

There are proper and effective ways to voice displeasure in amateur sports.

Give me a break. These people not only paid for the tickets, but stuck it out into the fourth quarter as we were getting annihilated, in the usual Chan fashion, and you're attacking them for expressing their frustration. It's about time our fans got fired up about something.

If that event has the effect on DRad that it should and lights a fire under his ass then it was well worth it.

Agreed. No one booed the players. They were booing a man that has consistently stunk up the joint and is being paid over a million a year to do it.

sorry....if one views it as classless. classless would be booing RB or TB; but the coach is fair game.

I'm sure it can't be any worse than the team they came to watch getting monkey stomped on national television.

Best thing I've read all day. No one booed Taylor after his #th interception. No one booed the defense for not sacking Glennon enough. Only the coach who had two weeks to prepare and was only able to muster up 3 points on national television got booed. Sounds fair to me.

I don't want a coach who is loved by his players. I have never seen that work on the field of sports or even in the business world. I want a coach who is RESPECTED by the players and most people want to work for a boss they respect.

EXACTLY...its one thing to be their friend, another to be respected.

Tony Dungy...respected
Jim Mora...a friend

I think we can see the difference.
