15 penalties today, 10 penalties against FSU. 12 turnovers in 3 games.

The offense:
Syracuse: 450 yards, 20 points.
UCF: 470 yards, 21 points
FSU: 440 yards, 16 points.

1/5 on field goals this year, including three misses inside of 30 yards.

All of this is not the cause of "superior athletes". It's stupidity and bad coaching. Fix it.

The FGs are 100% on the ööööing PKs. You cannot be a college PK and still kick the goddamn dirt 10" behind the ball. I guaran-goddamn-tee you they are not being coached to do that. And don't tell me to "don't insult the players". I don't expect these guys to make 58 yd FGs but I do expect them to not kick 4-foot-high line drives from the 10 yd line!

The penalties are the most telling to me. Between last year and this year, there is a very clear pattern of needless penalties due to players being undisciplined or disorganized.

I think it's fair to assume that the sloppiness and lack of preparation that manifests itself in those penalties is pervasive and impacts all three phases of the game in ways beyond penalties.

The simple fact is that we have been a poorly coached team for every game of CGC's tenure. I'm not ready to give up on him, but that's by far the most concerning thing to me. Way more concerning than players not having talent.

At least no one was there

I'm glad we spent time on a fake PAT to Harvin instead of basic football fundamentals

Our entire kicking team looks like absolute dogshit, from the snap and hold to the blocking and kicking. Only explanation I can think of is that we haven’t practiced enough, because kicking <30 yard FGs and PATs is just not that difficult.

It could be on the holder.

Very simply, a very poorly coached team. And for those critical of my assessment this past week, yes we did have another illegal participation penalty this week. Probably lead the nation in those.

I can have Tiger Woods' golf instructor but if I keep dropping my shoulder and hitting 6" behind the ball, I won't be qualifying for the PGA Tour.

There's only so much a coach can do - these PKs just don't appear to be able to handle the mental pressure of playing college football. Because I also guarantee you they aren't this bad when there's no rush in practice. I.E. When it doesn't mean anything.

No, if you can stomach it, rewatch today's kicks. Guy's foot is literally hitting the astroturf and spraying up that black öööö a good 10" behind the ball. So his foot basically bounces into the football about halfway up, resulting in a line drive that gets "blocked" by even the shortest of DL.

I can accept freshman turnovers. I can accept effort penalties. I can accept our bad players being overmatched. But this presnap penalty horseshit has to be fixed. This is year 2.
Expected in Year 1, not in Year 2. We’re losing to ourselves just as much as whoever we’re playing. Not just that, we’re getting worse every week. That’s the most worrying part to me.

I think we have sacrificed preparation to ensure we have the best Covid prevention in the P5. Collins has admitted we eliminated FG and PAT preparation.
