probably even former SA's....Most DO NOT appreciatate how the ACC is 1/3 the reason Tech even has D1 sports today.Without The ACC,Homer Rice and Bobby Cremins,Tech would probably be in the Southern Conference.The UGA game,is important,however it is time to focus on goal #1 with Tech fb-winning the ACC coastal and then winning it all in Jacksonville.I may be in the minority but this should be our #1 goal,followed closely by beating UGA.
 
Both are equally important, IMO.

My favorite wins were against UGAy, Clemins, and UNC when on the court competing against them.

I still talk about beating their arses (either to my opponents or thier teammates) when I see them. And it was 20 years ago this year! Fun memories...

Count me in the majority that consider U[sic]GA much more important than the ACCCG.

As a former SA I can't speak for others on here but beating the nad lickers are number one with me
 
I agree...for now. if the "powers" in the ACC come back (FSU, Miami, And you could throw GT,Clemson and VT in there) and make the ACC one of the better conferences again then it might be more important. We might as well be competing for the WAC championship.

Right now GT and UGA are about as big of rivals as Tulane and LSU.

maybe other sports are different but in football I am with MOVER>

just let you guys in a something, as a football player, beating UGA is more satisfying than beating Duke
 
I am a former student-athlete....and I will pick winning the ACC Championship Game and going to the BCS over a win against UGA any day.

Beating UGA is the second most important thing to me.

Former fb player under Ross here. Beating UGA was 10 times more important to us than an ACC championship. Despite the fact that none of the coaching staff was from the south, much less Georgia, they treated the UGA game much differently. Expectations were raised and practice, meetings - everything - was more focused. I don't get the impression that is still the case. Maybe I'm wrong...

The funny thing bout this thred is... if we have good enough team to win the ACC then we will also have team to beat ugag. And if we can beat ugag we can win the ACC.
 
For the next 4 to 5 years (at least), I would think that if we are good enough to beat the Athens-Clarke County Correctional Institute, then we will be good enough to win the ACC.
 
Beating UGA is most important to me. The infrequency of getting to celebrate a victory over them certainly adds fuel to my fire. I think if the rivalry was a little more 50/50 in my lifetime --or 40/60-- in terms of GT winning, then I might feel a little differently.

Hey, conference titles and BCS opportunities are important --very important. Beating Clemson, Virginia, VA Tech and Miami is important. But right now I prefer a victory over UGA.
 
Well..you have to win the ACC Championship to win the National Championship these days. You do not have to beat UGA to do so.

I would rather win a National Title. I guess I am nuts.
 
Beating UGA is important but the ACC Championship is much more important AND I guarantee you that UGA feels the same way about their conference.

The issue with me and UGA however is that for about 20 years now, I just don't enjoy playing them. I don't like them on our campus, I don't like how we sell out to them and I certainly can not stand the absolutely drunk disgusting fans that they bring.

One just sat in the middle of the aisle for half the game and I told him "you're going to get run over. Go to your seat. And by the way you stink." Sure enough five minutes later, he got completely run over. Idiot. And then this stinking drunk tells me that he's going to kick the crap out of the guy. Right.

Anyway, I'd rather bring back the Auburn rivalry and have always felt that we should have kept that game instead of UGA (and they were kicking the crap out of us back then too). Their fans match up much better to our fans.

i can hear it now, we win the national title but lose to UGA and they have shirts made up something like

UGA 27
national champs 10
