A walk in the park...

I have been as frustrated as anyone about the sloppiness of Tech's play to start the season, but there is potential for us to be competitive if we clean things up, execute, and don't turn the ball over. Look at Pitt's team stats the last two weeks and the difference a little execution makes against 2 opponents:

............. Pitt ..... PSU
TYd ...... 300 ..... 390
TOP ..... 34:22 ....... 25:38
TO ......... 3 ............ 2

.............. Pitt ...... GT
TYd ........ 335 ...... 386
TOP ...... 28:11 ....... 31:49
TO .......... 1 ...... ... 2

Except that Pitt's 2nd opponent was a massive downgrade from Pedo St.

Conversely, our next opponent is a huge upgrade from Pitt.

Does the turnover on downs count as a turnover?

Of course, Pitt didn't have to go far for one of their TD's

My point was that Tech's stats against Pitt were similar to the numbers generated by Penn State. The difference between the games was the ability of PSU convert those modest numbers to a blowout win, while we fell behind and squandered opportunities. Clean things up and stop committing unforced errors and we might be competitive with ranked teams.

It's been 10 years and the bolded things almost always occur. It's rare when they don't. Hence my lack of optimism.

Things that happen often tend to keep happening rather than stopping.

Of course this has to be the week that the dwags jumped Clemson so I'm sure they will be inclined to make some sort of statement.

A perfect storm seems to be brewing.

It really was. I wanted them to track it so we could see if hit a pylon, LOL. It was literally that far off.

I'll treat you like Spielberg. You'll get your ass kicked in in a park- Shaq

I always find its better to connect the dots in the first post. Just saves you some rhetorical back and forth.

I hit the turning point watching the field goal to close the half of the Pitt game. I just chuckled at how apt it was for us.

I heard the PAT crossbar ricochet on the radio in the car and almost laughed myself into the ditch.
As I saw it on TV, it was something "out of this world," so Tech that I wasn't surprised he missed it. My son and I looked at each other and busted out laughing!

Walk in the park? Lol. Nah bruh. This is going to be like a stroll through the park and no ones walking, they’re all being gingerly pulled in a red wagon while someone else is blowing bubbles. Uncle Dabo why is the sidewalk so bumpy? Lol kids that’s just the GT offensive line biting at your ankles just step over them.
Walk in the park. lol.

Clemson very well may beat the hell out of us -BUT - they do not have a QB as dynamic as Deshawn Watson nor do they have running backs on par with Spiller. If we get beaten, it will be due to our severe lack of talent. I honestly think the Nesbitt/Thomas team would have soundly beaten the current Clemson team at our place. Now, I'm not sure.

Clemson's defensive line is going to be very disruptive on Saturday. Based on what I've seen from the offensive line production, I expect many missed blocks and plenty of Clemson players in the backfield. I expect this will give Marshall fits on the pitch. The playbook will probably be pretty limited.

Defensively, I think we see more of the same from USF and Pitt - linebackers out of position, linemen shooting the same gaps. Clemson hasn't been as good with Watson gone, but they'll still get plenty of yards. I'm hopeful for a pick or two from the secondary.

Special teams will likely be a disaster. I wouldn't be surprised if we leave points on the board in the kicking game. Hopefully, we can get touchbacks on kickoffs.

I will quote PJ on this, if ifs and buts were candy and nuts we would all be happy
