ACC 2022 Schedule - Jan 31 7PM

I don’t see how we get close to a full stadium (70k) against Clemson on a Monday night. We haven’t come close to selling out our games at BDS against them and that was at the height of their dominance.

The truth is we have absolutely no idea who in this schedule is going to be good and who is going to suck. A lot of new coaches, a lot of super seniors finally moving on (I’m looking at you Pitt!!), and just a lot of unknowns in college football altogether (which is one of the reasons I prefer college over NFL).
Pitt still has their stud WR and a 5 star transfer QB in Slovis, I think they'll be better than you think.

are they even going to sell the upper deck or do the "Altanta United" like they did for UNC? i would assume not.

I'd expect they block the upper deck. Obviously our fans are ice cold on the state of the program. A lot of Clemson fans are luke warm as well following their dramatic drop off last season, coupled with Venables leaving. I just don't think there will be a lot of energy around this game.

Also, I think we can beat Clemson. We almost did last year and they lost Venables, which is significant. We also could get railed by 30pts+... but I expect a competitive games as I look through my gold-tinted glasses.

Very Probable Wins: WCU
Probable wins: Duke
Probable losses: UNC, Miami, FSU, UVa, VT, UCF
Very Probable Loses: Pitt, Clemson, Ole Miss
Near Certain loses: uga

I want to call you out for using certain for UGA and not for WCU, but then I realized you are right.

Ugh...I read this and thought it was slightly optimistic. Then I realized you only have 2 probable+ wins. Then I read it again and still thought it was slightly optimistic. Fuc/k

Playing in the ACC Coastal is actually as easy as it gets these days: Miami (new coach), Duke (new coach), UVA (new coach), VT (new coach). Even Pitt & UNC will have to deal with a new QB. If we can't play respectably against this cast of misfits, then any changes to the program are well deserved.

My guess would be…
WCU - 38k
Ole Miss - 55k
Duke - 35k
UVA - 45k
Miami - 37k

So ~200k. I think I’d go lower if the schedule wasn’t back loaded with road games. So there will still be a modicum of hope remaining in the front half.

We didn't sell out for UGA, so we definitely ain't selling out for Ole Miss. And no way we get 45k for UVA on a Thursday night.

We all know what's going to happen. This is just a sign we're closer to getting it over with.

The schedule is a result of happenstance with UCF hurricane cancellations and former ADs making terrible scheduling decisions. For example, Bobinsquatch let Ole Miss punt on this series TWICE when they were terrible and didn't want to play the option. And now we're just going to play the game against Kiffin doing about as well as he ever has anywhere in his coaching career. That's dumb operating in three dimensions on the schedule.

At this point I just hope the next coaching staff can clean it up quickly and right the ship quickly. Or Stansbury starts buying out games like he were the Ole Miss AD. I really really want to beat Colorado in 25/26. I really really don't want to lose to Temple or Georgia State in 24/25/26.

While WCU was the worst team I ever saw play at BDS, that game is on a short week. We will also have a new OC and a new system. I expect us to try and out muscle WCU, but that will lead to a closer game than is necessary and we do tend to turn the ball over at critical points in the game. Toss in a new kickoff returner and we could find ourselves in a GW type game.

As for uga, our only hope is that the are out of the playoff race. Because if they are still clinging to that hope there is no way they overlook us.

We are at least 3 years from having an O that can impose its will as opposed to taking what the D gives. That is what we will need to beat uga.

Have you considered adding the library to official BDS seating?

That’s kind of my point. We have no idea how good or bad any of these teams are going to be with all of this turnover - ourselves included.

Bowl game or we move on. Should not be any gray area on that requirement. It's year 4... we need to win at least 6 to feel like his coaching can get us to where we expect to be within the ACC power hierarchy.
What you say is correct but is insufficient. A bowl is what we were looking for in year 3. I think what was in the booster article a bit back is the way to look at it, the only way he stays is if we have the year 4 we were expecting before the hot seat ignited.

Given the consistency of our football program over a 3 year span, I think we have a reliable gauge on how good our program will be in 2022.

15-20 years ago we knew Gailey was going to win 7. Today we know Collins is good for 3

I would be interested as to how Wake Forest fans saw their schedule last year. Surely they saw loses where wins ended up. Same with our 2008 season. We did not see that record coming and also beating butt sniffers in Cesspool after fumbling 40 snaps at the Spring game.
So why not us? How many single digit loses did we have in 21? A stop here or there could turn out to be Wake in 22...
