Acc Bowls

I don't think anyone on here is disputing that the ACC is and has been down for the last 2 ro 3 years.

What we are asking you is why can't you post anything positive about YOUR beloved school. New Coach, that's exciting. Got rid of Chan, that's good news. great new assistants, that's good news.

But no you show a you tube clip of the band running after playing a snippet in front of the nad lickers. A tradition that they have been performing for years. Better yet why didn't you post that after say UNC or BC.

I know you couldn't have that much hate and despise in your heart, but then again maybe you get your rocks off taunting, who knows.

Re: The SEC wasn't, isn't and never will be a basketball conference

NCAA brackets are against all schools and conferences... You point would be legit if you said it was easier to get in the dance with a weaker conf, but to get to the title game is a different animal.

A great team with a top 3 seed will have a much easier go of it than a great team with a 6-4 seed. I'm not trying to dispute what Florida did or anything, because it is remarkable and they were a great team, but being in a weak conference certainly makes it easier to get a higher seed. But as you said, in the end it is decided on the court, and there can be no dispute in the end of who is the champion.

lol... this thread is about how poorly the ACC is in bowls... thanks, Lou, for the pep talk, though, to only pump sunshine.. :laugher:

fwiw, I only put my ignore list in my sig so the people in it don't bother directing posts towards me and expecting a response.

beej67,

Re: The SEC wasn't, isn't and never will be a basketball conference

So what about in 2006 when LSU and UF made it to the Final Four and in 2007 when UF made it again? BTW, there were no ACC teams in the final four either year.
That's not a fact that shows SEC is better at basketball. You have to look at overall records, and that will show ACC, just maybe PAC-10 due to UCLA, but definitely not SEC.

Look at it this way, if the ACC is so bad then that should end any thoughts that the triple option wont work. ;)

That's what I thought, Just can't answer a question can you?

In a thread about the ACC going 2-6 this year in the Bowls and the ACC having a record of 1-9 in BCS bowls where the talk among everyone (except on the board) is how down the ACC is by having such a poor showing, you want to know instead what I like about GT? Does that make you think the ACC talk will go away if you choose to divert the attention? lol...ok...

Tell you what, you tell me what you like about GT and I'll tell you if I agree or not.

Excitement! We have a new HC that is in the process of unifying the base. Working his butt off recruiting. Been in the media more in two weeks than chan was in 2 years.

Fans, not just GT fans but other fans getting excited about the future. I don't dwell on the past. Am I happy? Not one bit about the last 2 years. But I'm damn excited about what CPJ is already doing.

Threads get hijacked and yet you still can't answer the question but yet want to turn it around like you're being picked on. You maybe a Tech fan, but only you know.

Some people keep dwelling on the past, Like yourself. Move forward man move forward!

So the ACC sucked this year and has been mediocre at best the last 3 seasons but I tend to look forward.

Can you? or do you want to pull up some more youtube videos and make fun of your school. Just wondering that's all.

Don't reply, I already know your answers.

On the topic of SEC - ACC --I'm old school in many ways. I still think football when someone says SEC and basketball when someone says ACC.

Year in and year out the SEC is normally the stronger football conference between the two and the ACC the stronger basketball conference.

In most cases, the SEC, both in terms of regular season head-to-head games and also in bowl games, is more exciting to me. The stadiums are packed and the Sugar Bowl is always a sellout, as is the Peach (CFA). The Orange Bowl is normally good with good turnout, but the Gator Bowl is just a dud in terms of crowd and atmosphere --maybe with the ACCCG moving out of Jax this will benefit the Gator.

From a basketball standpoint, there is nothing more exciting to me than regular season games in the ACC (followed by the Big East) --a little watered down now with expansion but Miami and others are beginning to step up and put quality teams on the court. I find most SEC regular season games boring --unless Kentucky, Florida or nowadays Tennessee is involved. There is nothing more exciting than the ACC tournament --and nothing more b-o-r-i-n-g than the SEC tournament. I've been to both and this is just my opinion.

This isn't to say that the ACC hasn't had great football seasons --because there have been plenty. Just as the SEC has certainly had it's share of quality basketball seasons --not to mention NCAA champions. I'm a GT fan and an ACC fan, truth is the ACC has been down for a few years now from a football perspective --but I see improvement for a few programs on the horizon, GT and UNC included. Should be an exciting year in the ACC next season.

ACC teams are all finished in the bowls and the numbers are:

Wins.......................................2
Losses.................................6
Points scored for ACC..........187
Points scored against ACC....205

Biggest margin win:
Wake Forrest over U.Conn...24-10=14 pts.
Closest margin win:
B.C. over Mich. St..............24-21=3 pts.

Biggest margin loss:
GT loses to Fresno St. by......12 pts.
Closest margin loss:
3 way tie, UVA-VT-Clemson by...3 pts.

Either this thread has been greatly misunderstood or has been hijacked like a plane to Cuba.
My intent was merely to show how we stacked up in the ACC in bowl games this year. Not intended to degrade ACC or GT.

THAT AINT GONNA NEVER HAPPEN !!!!!!!!!

ACC may not had a banner year but this will turn around very soon.
I'd also take a minute to say how happy I am to have Paul Johnson as our new HC.
Edsal was my first choice but PJ was NOT far behind.
Close enough that it really didn't matter because I'd be happy with either.
I did all I knew to do to support Chan Gailey and that same attitude will carry over to Paul Johnson and his staff.
This is a given!!!!!
My 1st desire is to see not only the football program, but all GT programs excel to the top, 2nd to none.
My 2nd desire is to see GT fans quit bitching, crying and moaning, and let UGA fans take over that dept.
Paul J. may just be the leader we need to see that happen in FB.
I say let's quit bitch'n and start back'n this bunch.
YELLOWWWWWWWWWW

Re: The SEC wasn't, isn't and never will be a basketball conference

In fact, as we all know, it is easier to make the national title game out of a weak conference than a strong conference, though the advantage is much less pronounced in basketball.
Then, based on this 'fact' that 'we all know', why in the hell isn't there an ACC school in the national title game? It's not like there's a weaker BCS football conference out there or anything.

Seems pretty simple to me - there were no great teams in the ACC. A conference can be weak but still have a great team (see PAC 10, last several years).

Also, VT would be in the national championship game if they had played a cupcake instead of LSU early in the season.

Well, the good news is that the conference is in transition. There are new head coaches at: GT, Miami, UNC, BC, NCst, Duke, and coming soon FSU. That's like half the conference with new coaches. If half those new coaches work out the conference should be fine.

The fact is the ACC is struggling to be a "top" fball conference. The record shows it and GT is struggling also. But it can get better on both counts and maybe will.
