Anyone knows where to find that 300:1 odds for GT, you know, for research?
The 30:1 odds also looks good for VT, but it would give me too much of a reason to root against GT in November.
Edit: Found the futures site on bodog.com. It also has some inexplicable odds for GT, with 200:1 for GT winning the BCS and Southern Miss(??) at 100:1. The best odds, though, might be the 8:1 for GT winning the Coastal. Again, there's some inexplicable odds, with Miami favorites at 1:1, UNC coming in at 5:1 and UVA at 6:1.
No ACC is going to the NC game this year and few in the near future. The reason is simple:
USC is a monster but plays nobody that has depth and plays well on both sides of the ball. It's too easy for them to get to the NC game and they are always starting ahead of us in the polls.
OSU plays a weak schedule.
UM plays the same weak schedule. One of those two is going to end ahead of us.
UT plays a weak schedule and is a monster also.
Two of these four teams WILL ALMOST ALWAYS FINISH AHEAD OF US IN THE POLLS.
I'm not predicting that VPI will win the MNC, but that their odds might be better than 30:1. They're ranked 9th in the coach's poll, one spot ahead of OSU, and they looked poised to go to the championship game two years ago before losing to Miami.
As for GT, stranger things have happened, I guess. Rutgers certainly came a lot closer to the BCS title game last year than anyone would have ever expected.
Florida, I think VPI has a good chance, except that they will never go undefeated in the ACC this year. I think they could in fact, fall flat of their face, when the going gets tough. Sometimes people face events with great positive desire and then when it gets difficult, the weak foundation that it was built on crumbles.
Anyway, more importantly, VPI has too many weaknesses: not a strong enough quarterback.
I have $5 on us to win the NC at bodog. Hoping for that cool $1000 payoff...I think if we go undefeated we will get into the national championship game. Certainly that would have been the case last year.
