ACC refs and Oline Blocking

Kind of a joke about the refs being that bad.

They are bad, and they play favorites.

The ACC favoritism shows most by calls not made, so I don't thing we are setting ourselves to benefit. This is opposed to SEC favoritism, which is more of a "Hunh? They stopped the Dawgs on 4th down? Where's my pass interference flag?!?"

Yup.

All it takes for ACC officials to start flagging Tech unfairly is for UNC to complain to Swofford.

Swofford's a little girl and UNC wears baby blue.

'nuff said.

ACC refs lost me when they were overturned on a FG last year. SEC refs are purely out to rescue as many SEC teams as possible from losing to an OOC team.

I personally think we need to play UGAG at a neutral site with Big 12 refs. ACC refs are incompetent and SEC refs are homers.

Oh, man, did anyone watch the UNC/VT game last year?

They called a personal foul on GEORGIA TECH. Over the PA system. We WEREN'T EVEN PLAYING and they were calling fouls on us.

Please tell me that's a joke... Actually, it wouldn't surprise me.

Therein lies the predicament for Tech coaches in the UGa game since '64.

SEC officials have been much better to us than ACC officials have. SEC officials gave us the goal line fumble in 99. ACC officials gave us the phantom pass interference in 97, screwed up the down markers in 06, etc. Our biggest home field advantage in the UGA game is we finally get to play with officials that aren't from the ACC.

beej67, you are aware that the SEC instructions to officials, before the season, required the fumble call if no official could see that it was not a fumble.

'97 was SEC officials.

'91 was SEC officials.

'05 was SEC officials.

All of which confirms the previous statement that ACC officials are incompetent and SEC officials appear to be crooked.

Oh for christ's sake, 06 were ACC officials, who PULLED OUR GUYS OFF THE PILE looking for the ball, then gave UGA the points for returning the nonfumble for TD, which decided the game.

ACC officials have been MUCH worse to us.

As I have said repeatedly, SEC refs are biased and ACC refs are just incompetent. Equal billing. We've been terribly screwed by BOTH over the past 5 years.

SEC refs have been bad, from calling Tillman (?) in 1997 for the PI on the UGAG receiver BEHIND an INT (thus the ball was touched by a defensive player, and was indeed uncatchable nullifying any possible PI), to the missed clips (BTW, I have pics of those two clips. If anyone here can host them, I'll send them to you), to the touchback and phantom PI calls last fall. Just bad calls.

ACC refs really have only screwed us once in the UGAG game, in 2006 with the sorry fumble dig out and TD. That was about the worst I've ever seen.

The down markers in 2004 said 3rd down when Reggie threw the ball away, as did the stadium scoreboard.

I love you now, because you are the first person since me on the night of the game to point that out without a disclaimer. I was at the game and I noticed it from up in the stratosphere and was screaming about it. You can blame it on Reggie, and yes he should know the down, but it was ridiculous that the officials on the sidelines AND the scorekeeper in the booth failed to change the down.

Isn't the scoreboard operator in Athens a local redneck? Also, is the sideline crew local or visiting team? I know the on the field crew is.

I am sure if Tech's offense has moderate success, that will be all those interloping Dawgs on the message boards mantra.

Sideline crew, I honestly don't know. Scoreboard operator, be it for them, us or Michigan A&M was just as incompetent as the field crew.

Well in all fairness, '06 is not the only UGa game the ACC screwed us. Anyone remember 1992? UGa leading 24-17 and Tech. attempting an onside kick with about 1:30 left. The ACC ref in front of Ray Goff called Tech offsides. Replays confirm no one was offsides.

Same year ACC refs screwed us with FSU trying onside kicks at BDS, right?

For some reason, the FSU game of 1992 is the last one I remember for about 2 years.... I'm sorry, I just don't recall.
