ACC refs and Tech

Wow I just was watching the final drives, and on Pitt's last drive, when they got to 3rd and 1 and QB sneak for the 1st down. The line was nowhere near set when they snapped the ball. They tried to catch us off guard and it should've been false start on the offense and 3rd and 6. We could've been getting the ball back down 6 with about 2:00 left.

Here's a handy chart of who the ACC wants to win each game. IOW, the opponent of who is going to get screwed, in order of priority.

1. Anyone to get into the playoffs, from game 1 of the season onwards.
2. A second team into the playoffs, even if they are visitors to the league.
3. A team needing a little boost to make a better bowl.
4. A team needing a little boost to make any bowl.
5. Tobacco Road teams.
6. The Little Girl's hatred of all things GT, so GT's opponent.

What really pissed me off was when VT came into the league and began getting all the favorable calls against us.

Wow, I wanted to go back and see how much clock we lost because of all that BS officiating on that one drive. It all started at the end of the 3rd quarter. They had the ball 2nd and 11, and we stop them for a loss which should've made it 3rd and 12. Antwan Owens gets called for unsportsmanlike conduct in the absolute worst call I've ever seen. He says something to the RB as he's getting up then looks away and starts clapping and the ref throws the flag on him. If they're going to throw the flag for that, Pitt should've had 20 of them called this game. Total BS. So, 15 yards, free first down. Then missed a tackle on jet sweep that should've been 5 yard gain max, and ends up going for 20 because Tariq gets tackled in the back then when he gets up and shoves the guy somebody on the Pitt sideline starts fighting with him. But we both get the offsetting PF's there. Two plays later, phantom PI call. If you are wondering, in college you are allowed to put hands on the receiver and get him off his route before the ball is in the air. That's what we did and get flagged for PI. Two plays later, it's 3rd and 3, line to gain is the 6 yard line. I have the game replay, from the side angle you can completely see the runner is down with the ball around the 7. They give him the 1st and never review it. No hurry up play by the offense or anything but the booth still never buzzed down. Pitt should've been kicking that FG with about 12:00 on the clock. Two plays later 3rd and goal from the 2, Pitt gets flagged for breaking huddle with 12 men, Narduzzi throws a bitch fit and the refs have to talk about it so he basically gets a free timeout to get his 3rd and goal play set up. So now 3rd and goal from the 7, Pitt LT #77 with a huge hold on Ryans, had him around the neck, no flag, and the infamous "late hit out of bounds" called on Juanyeh. Pickett and his OL jawing the whole time. Then the BS with the 15yard unsportsmanlike on Pitt but after they give them the 1st down. A late hit OOB and a dead ball foul should offset. Should've again been 3rd down, instead they get a 1st. Then on 2nd down we get the 5 min ref conference for who knows what. Finally get the stop, and Pitt false starts on the FG. Not sure on declining that, but I assume it was to make it a harder angle for the kick. So there is 8:04 left on the clock. Pitt gained 4 mins of possession at minimum because of piss poor officiating on that drive. Could've been even more, because the 4th quarter should've started with Pitt in 3rd and 12 situation backed up in their own end. So possibly 7 mins given to them by the refs.
It actually should have been offsetting penalties and 4th down from the 3rd down spot. The down counts on dead ball penalties. The refs probably had the conference before the 2nd down play because realized they ööööed up.

On our first TD drive they absolutely should have reviewed the long pass to see if our receiver was in the endzone. Ball should have been spotted on the 1/2 yard line but was instead at the 2. I was shocked they didn't review the play.

This really was the worst officiated game I have ever watched. I said that last night, but gave it more thought this morning, and it’s true.
Two roughing the passer and one phantom late hit out of bounds were epic. In a one score game, three automatic first
downs when we had them stopped absolutely changed the game.

Notre Dame 1978 was worse, way worse.

They clotheslined and late hit all game long, trying to injure people. And the refs went along. They maul our receiver, and we get the offensive pass interference. The game was not on TV, so I guess anything goes.

Here's an example. Ever have a punt go out of the end zone untouched, and have a ref try to spot it on your one?

I thought the same thing live. Looked to me like the receiver (Camp?) rolled over the defender and into the endzone before any knee/elbow/etc. touched the turf. Even on review it looked like he was close but at minimum should have been at the 0.5 yard line, not the 2. Pitt got a couple generous spots over the course of the game too that weren't even close to being reviewed. Also they were not set on a 3rd and 1 when they hurried to the line for a QB sneak for the 1st. That was on "the drive with all the bogus penalties" and we could've possibly gotten out of that drive with like 12 mins left on the clock instead of 8.

They didn't because we went into hurry up right away. And got the first of two procedure penalties.

I fell asleep at halftime and woke up with 2 minutes left in the game. I missed more minutes of game time last night, than I have in the past 35 years combined. Could someone fill me in on what happened with the refs?
