Great Read....entire article below (pay wall)

The Athletic writer's Andy Bitter, Manny Navarro and Grace Raynor for the ACC, broken into three easy groups: Winners, Broke Even, Losers.

Losers: Georgia Tech

It’s hard to win in the portal when two of your best young players leave the program. Losing All-ACC running back Jahmyr Gibbs to Alabama was a devastating blow at the end of another three-win season. Losing 13-game starter Jared Ivey, a talented 6-6, 275-pound sophomore, in late January to Ole Miss was just another gut-punch.

Most of the other nine transfers don’t sting nearly as much, but wide receiver Adonicas Sanders (6-1, 194) did start six games in 2021 and was fourth on the team with 29 catches for 362 yards and three scores.

What Geoff Collins managed to reel in among seven additions is a handful of talented former four-star recruits who weren’t seeing much playing time at better Power 5 programs.

What’s struck me is the amount of players that are leaving Tech that have no home right now. Wonder if they’ve shot themselves in the foot by going into the portal.

Or the pain of staying to play for the current regime was too great to not at least try.
For many, I'm sure the fun has gone (just as it has for most of us).

I’m not surprised by the numbers who left. Tech is a hard place. And if you aren’t playing why go thru the hassle. We know society is soft so it doesn’t surprise me that a certain percentage of GT players are soft. They’ll learn a great lesson in life when the options are a much lower tier school or pay for it yourself. In the end I don’t think the football program lost much. Sure, Gibbs is a stud but he wasn’t going to magically be a plus 3 wins by himself. As for Ivey, go on big boy. I’ll be looking for you on the Ole Miss sideline when you could have been on the field at GT. Kiffen may have sold you a bill of goods.

My opinion.

Ivey will play a lot & well. Makes a difference to an outside rusher when there are some monsters inside.

If Gibbs stays healthy, he could lead the country in all-purpose yards at Bammer.

It’s a strong indication that this staff can’t evaluate talent properly.

Um. It's mainly the CPJ recruits who haven't found a home. Peery and Wright are the exceptions and Peery was a Patenaude recruit. The staff got a commitment from Gibbs when he was just a 3 star. Evaluating talent isn't a problem. Coaching has been

Well, Hell's Bells, I think I figgered out our problem. CGC has "Coach" in his job title, so folks are expecting him to be, like, good at coaching. öööö, just redesignate him "Head Talent Evaluator." HTEGC. Now instead of three wins a year, he can claim 15 or more wins a year, and no one can complain about his performance.

Always hard to compete with SEC schools for talent, so I'm not surprised we lost a few. That said, one thing most young men won't abide is being the butt of a joke, and sadly that's what Collins has made Tech. All social media hype, no coaching, and the results speak for themselves. I think you've clearly seen this with the assistants and the players in the portal. Happy to stand corrected, and if we start winning in Fall I'll gladly eat crow. Unfortunately I don't think the winning starts this year.

I hope the portal guys can find a chair before the music stops.
100-0 and 3win seasons can send things into a tailspin.
The new AD will have key decisions to make upon arrival.
Who can blame them or the decommits,
or Suddes or Coleman or Choice

Other than Adonicas, Yates, and Joaquon, the rest are Collins recruits, what are you on? Camp, Amerson, Peery, and Wright are all Collins recruits and Ezzard came under Collins…

Camp, Amerson and Yates were all CPJ recruits who were kept on when Collins was hired. Collins wasn't allowed to straight up drop anyone though he did nudge a couple of OL to look elsewhere. I didn't count Ezzard because he was a transfer we took a flyer on. Blame Miami because they signed him first.

This is again shows how clueless this football board is and can be at times. CGC was hired Dec 8. 2018 and was mandated that all of the scholarship were guaranteed to the guys already committed (stupid). Please explain to us all how a BBack who committed in June and a 6’1 OG who committed in August are his recruits?

Don't forget to add the number 5 to that title.

If they signed under Collins, then they are Collins recruits. He can easily just cut them out and bring the recruits he had from temple, which as we see now, suck as much as Tech does now.

Again, he could have easily said no to their scholarships, just like Norvell did to Sims, and bring his guys from Temple.
