ACC weighing elimination of divisions

Clemson, FSU, and Miami will not all still be in the ACC years from now. They are all factories that exist justice support football programs, and not academics.
Miami’s a weird money-hungry private school, not a football-first factory at all

We beat U[sic]GA and won a NYD bowl game against a P5 opponent in 2016. I’d take that level of “nonexistent” about now.

JRjr
That was before Georgia decided they were willing to sell their souls to the devil and blatantly pay players whose only purpose on that campus are to play football, like Bama. And The NCAA decided to let them get away with it.

Georgia Tech will not post a competitive score against Georgia for the next 20 years regardless who is coaching. Georgia’s second string could name the score against GT l, they are so much better.

It’s just a completely different game now than 2016. Cats out of the bag.

What? UGA has been buying players way before recently (2016). Ever heard of Herschel Walker? Some of y’all just have a very short view of a long history in college football. UGA’s problem has always been coaching. They’ve always had a huge dedicated fanbase and paid players under the table. But their coaches were always meat heads who got outcoached by coaches with similar talent. Even Dooley was a moron, but he bought the best player in a decade with Walker and won 1 when he should have won 2. Then Donnan and Richt were chokers with all that talent. Kirby is a true coach who can coach and buy players. They have the formula for this era. Meanwhile GT is still following chapter and verse from 60 years ago and we wonder why we win 3 games. GT could easily be competitive if they chose to play the modern game of buying players. But it’s pretty clear our admin has decided to go the other way and let the program whither until it’s gone.

For best regional rivalry games, put all the former Big East teams in the Atlantic (north).

Atlantic(north)...............Coastal(south)
Miami...........................F$U
VT.................................Virginia
Louisville......................UNC
BC................................Clemson
Pitt................................GT
Syracuse.......................NC State
Wake.............................Duke
Why would Wake be aligned with the Atlantic group? Isn't it an ACC original member? FSU would be more appropriate.

Nope. This is different. By analogy, people have always committed murder. But murder was never legal, until now. That’s what’s happening to CFB. Sorry. You’ll see. UGA and the factories will leave the rest of CFB in the dust. Oklahoma and Texas to the SEC is all the proof you need.
Sorry. It’s the way it is.

FSU & Miami are not factories lol. Stop hyperventilating! Neither have the financials to do so
You must be a youngster. Miami and FSU have both won more NCs than Clemson. They both have more of a National fan base than Clemson. They’re just both down on their luck lately. But they are both very much football factories whose priorities are football first, books second. Don’t kid yourself. Neither will remain in an anemic football conference on the outside looking in like Wake Forest or UNC—— or Georgia Tech. Sorry.

Georgia has been paying players for decades. Back in my day Keith Henderson and Tim Worley we’re driving around campus with matching Chrysler Labaron red convertibles. Yes, Chrysler Labaron’s

Lol non of that is relevant nor true to the current landscape of CFB. Why you think Jimbo Fisher left FSU? FSU boosters and support don’t have the same pockets of true factories

How many ACC titles do Miami have? Better yet how many Coastal titles do Miami have? . It was just until this past winter until Miami decided they will invest in their football https://www.espn.com/college-footba...es-all-be-enough-cure-canes-ills?platform=amp

By your logic, Nebraska is a factory as well

I guess "youngster" is a matter of perspective. I remember days when both Miami and FSU were doormats and had been for decades. FSU rose to power under a single coach and Miami's golden age only lasted about 15 years, although both accomplished amazing things during that time. Maybe both will be back, but maybe not.

I just don’t see Clemson, Miami or FSU staying in a dying ACC conference with schools that value primarily basketball. And that is exactly what the ACC will become in football, a dying conference, along with the Big XII and even the B1G.

Notre Dame needs to be given an ultimatum of joining the ACC or being completely out. They are not going to continue to get the benefit of the doubt for a CFB playoff invite without playing a conference championship game.

One thing is for certain, the ACC will screw this up. We'll never have another playoff team. GT will agree to something it doesn't want, will turn around and try to explain to us why it's a good thing. Most will know it's complete BS, several will profess their undying allegiance to the sacred ACC & will unfailingly defend the bad decision even under mounting evidence to the contrary. We'll take it in the 5 hole, fall further into the abyss.

Wrong. Murder has always been legal. The only thing that’s changed is that fans who have had their heads buried in the sand have suddenly taken their head out of the sand and have just now seen all the bodies stacked up. Meanwhile, guys like me have watched the stacking for decades.

And you are completely wrong on the factories leaving everyone in the dust. College football has more parity today than ever. The first non P5 team made the Final Four. A factory team in Oklahoma just had their Heisman QB poached buy a factory wannabe. I’d agree if the factories could play the game with 3 balls but they can’t so all these hot shots will be portaling for playing time. Look at UGA. They look loaded on paper but one of Stockton or Vandengriff will never play a down for them. The portal is the best thing to have happened to schools like GT in a long time because now we can bring in college players instead of 2-3 star high schoolers. I do find it interesting that we use to have threads about high schoolers we couldn’t offer due to grades, etc, yet now we take all kinds of players from all types of colleges and yet we don’t hear a peep about credits or grades. It’s almost as if GT has quietly just waived everything for these guys.

David Teel also threw his hat into the ring; here are Mr. Teel's match-ups:

  • VIRGINIA: Virginia Tech, North Carolina and Wake Forest
  • VIRGINIA TECH: Virginia, Miami and Georgia Tech
  • GEORGIA TECH: Clemson, Virginia Tech and Duke
  • NORTH CAROLINA: N.C. State, Duke and Virginia
  • WAKE FOREST: Duke, N.C. State and Virginia
  • DUKE: North Carolina, Wake Forest and Georgia Tech
  • N.C. STATE: North Carolina, Wake Forest and Clemson
  • FLORIDA STATE: Clemson, Miami and Louisville
  • MIAMI: Florida State, Boston College and Virginia Tech
  • CLEMSON: Florida State, N.C. State and Georgia Tech
  • BOSTON COLLEGE: Pitt, Syracuse and Miami
  • PITT: Boston College, Syracuse and Louisville
  • SYRACUSE: Pitt, Boston College and Louisville
  • LOUISVILLE: Pitt, Syracuse and Florida State

Knowing that divisionless gives you a chance to play everyone else twice every four years, I don't have a problem with these, either.

murder has always been legal? Maybe in Quentin Tarantino movies. You’re delusional. College football has been transformed for $$$. Not parity.

I don't see it this way. I think FSU plays Miami and Tech plays Clemson. The rest of the teams will fill in one game against, Tech, FSU and Miami due to recruiting needs. That leaves UNC v UVA and VPI v Pitt. After that it's pretty easy to figure out everybody but the key decision will be at the beginning and have to do with recruiting the states of Ga and Fla.
