The debate is fruitless, especially in the middle of the season. Yes, winning out is still mathematically possible, but not at all likely----but it would put an entirely different "glow" on the season.
Maryland's QB was making his first start--and he shredded Tenuta's defense. Our defense is now exposed to be smoke and mirrors. No rush, and no coverage, the recipe for disaster. I haven't seen the bos score, but I bet we out gained them and had over 400 yards offense and still lost. Friedgen beat us early and then we beat ourselves at crunch time. But for two bone head plays--the fumbled punt at Charlottesville and the holding call against Gardner yesterday and we woul be 5-1 with a "quality" loss against BC. Chan can survive--I hope not, but he can. I have every confidence that Radakovich has a list, and is working on it daily. The big issue is revenue or the lack thereof. Chan generates no interest in the program as it is right now and that will force a business decision by the Athletic Director.

How did we ever get into such a mess where two plays were the difference between winning and losing to two teams that are average at best?

You have the answer to your dilemma right there. You say there is lack of revenue and the HC doesn't generate interest? Wouldn't a new coach generate interest, leading to increased revenue in the short-term. Hypothetical question, if Spurrier or Pete Carroll was announced as the next head coach, would that excite GT fans and the Atlanta sports community? I think most people would answer "yes". The next question is cost/benefit analysis - i.e. what is return on my investment? (FWIW, I am aware that GT is not going to be able to hire an estabilished NC-level coach.)

This is the same as last season only the breaks went our way. We could have lost to Mary-land last season if not for MJ. We trailed Miami at home in the 4th. We came out swinging against VT but they dominated the rest of the game last year. The only difference between this season and last is that we got the breaks the other teams are getting this year.
