AJC:Matt calls 3 of our out of state recruits..did you hear?

Finding out if it is affecting other recruits is just the next logical step. Unfortunately for us, there's no way of doing that without running the risk of informing them if they didn't already know.

This is the source of disagreement. I think there is a way to do it, if you must call the recruits to begin with. Just ask them a general "how's it going and how are you feeling about GT?" as I suggested before.

If they don't bring up the rumor, there's your story - it's not affecting recruits. Instead, Winkeljohn puts himself in the middle of it by spreading the rumor and getting reactions. Wrong, in my book.

Bottom line though, is that Dodd's article is the story not Winklejohn's calls. If recruits don't know and find out they will call Chan or their recruiting coach for info. If they read Dodd's article they would do the same. I don't see the issue to be honest. If we're trying to keep kids by hiding stuff from them we're going to crash and burn anyway. As long as the coaches are in touch and keeping their relationships strong it won't matter...and that will be the story.

Agree with that - I just think it's inappropriate for a reporter to be the one spreading the rumor by calling them up.

Agree.
