All decommitment team

Those are two corners in glad we didnt get. Wasnt pacman only a 2 star

He was 2* by rivals (2002 class) http://westvirginia.rivals.com/commitlist.asp

and 1* by scout (2002 class)
http://westvirginia.scout.com/a.z?s=159&p=9&c=8&yr=2002

He would not have saved the class by initial signing day reaction but would have contributed tremedously as he developed, or maybe would have developed more/less on the flats compared to WVU or maybe gotten arrested at a Bankhead Highway strip club who knows.

I had no idea Pacman was a 2*. I mean, I can understand a QB or OL becoming a great NFL player by developing in college. But a cornerback who became one of the fastest players in the NFL, how do the services miss that?

If you didn't follow the dawgs much then you certainly didn't hear much of Brandon Miller. I predict you will hear his name next year - alot.
Dawg fans have been dissappointed with Miller since he stepped foot on campus. Like I said he hasn't done much for the alleged #1 player in Georgia the year he came out.

LOL!...well, you know I believe it! :laugher:

Add Shane Olivea (Thanks, DOUGGIE!!) to that list.

thats right...Benedict Marrone left and we lost Shane Olivea to The Ohio State...he ripped our heart out.

For many years we thought we would never land another bigtime OL or DL.

In fact hasn't he moved to DE now?

Robert Drum is a good friend of mine...we grew up together as next-door neighbors when he lived in Kennesaw. He has always been huge lol...i remember in 7th grade when i was like 5' and 70 lbs and he was already 6 feet tall haha. I tried and tried to convince him to come to Tech after I knew that I had been accepted but he was never really close to coming here. I cant wait to see him get some real playing time and see what he can do!

you need to split it up into a first team/second team and maybe add in transfers too.

Then why is the title of the thread "All decommitment team"?

I thougth "All decommitment team/came close to committing meaning made the top 3 or top 5" was too long a title but if you want it that way then there it is.

I never wanted transfers on the list since this was to me more an exercise in finding out where top level talent that we came close to getting came from, who we lost that talent to and why. Some you know about, as in Carlos Thomas' case, others you kind of forget about like in Brandon Miller's case with his mother infamous "they showed him the G's" line after his Ugag visit, I don't realy remember the specific reason why Brandon never came here.

But I guess a transfer list can also be made, heck we already have the QB depth chart from just the last 3 years (Threet, Ingram, Gardner).

Quitsy Carter?? He doesn't qualify based on 5 years...But, in hindsight, I'm glad he never came to Tech...and if he did, would lil'Joe ever been given a fair chance? I like to beelieve Joe would have straight up beat him out of the job...

It's not the last 5 years, but at one point this season, the San Diego Chargers started an OL that included both Marcus McNeil (close to Tech, went to Auburn) and Shane Olivea (decommitted from Tech, went to Ohio St.).

I thought that was interesting. McNeil is listed #1 on the depth chart at LT, Olivea #2 RT)

</p>
"Guys that left" isn't too long.

Too long no, too vague yes.

Wow, I never knew that we were close to getting "the Decatur eclipse", he is one of my all time favorite linemen. Were we ever really close to getting him?

Really, I think you should limit this team to true decommitments and not those who were "close" to committing. If you going by those who showed interest in GT but didn't commit, I mean the average guy lists 5 "interests" so that is not really very indicative that he was serious about becoming a Jacket.

That list would take a lot of years to assemble given that the average school has only about 2 or 3 decommitments every year, probably less. Maybe we can create a strickter criteria (like GT must be top 3 with at least a visit at the time the recruit in question makes his choice).
